The PSNI Chief Constable will be on The View on BBC NI which starts shortly. DUP's Jeffrey Donaldson also on the programme.

    Edit: beaten to it.

On Newsnight, Greg speaking out of his Hands.

    They seem desperate.

Mark Carruthers doing a great job pointing out to Jeffrey Donaldson the political isolation of the DUP. He's NI's best journalist imo.

I never watch Question Time as I dont have access to BBC on me telly, but someone in the audience just asked if the solution for NI might be to "give the six counties back to Eire" and give payments to people who want to go to Britain.

Johnson's plan getting heavily criticised on QT panel.

That suggestion was on QT on BBC 1

Jeffery Donaldson tying himself up in complete knots of logic atm on the View.

Compare that to O Callaghan tonight on prime time -

Doing a fantastic job - highlighting the one sided Pro DUP Anti-Everyone Else nature of the Deal

That lady from Chicago is brilliant speaking for Ireland. Telling the UK what they do not want to hear.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,226 ✭✭✭Valhallapt

Didn’t get to see the view. But many say that a no deal brings forward an United ireland, I think this only holds true if the dissidents stay in their box. The border will be economically savage on NI, middle ground would lean toward a UI but if the nut jobs get their guns out and attack customs officers many of the middle ground will be horrified, and we’ll be exactly where we were 40 something years ago.......

Donaldson got his ass roasted on The View tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,229 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Damn! That’s some hard truths for the UK.

Did anyone see Arlene foster saying that Leo varadkar would be the man responsible for a hard border being back on the island of Ireland ? Lester Pickett wouldn’t beat her in the jockeys you know what. The DUP are blinded by their obsession with the “precious Union” they will risk a hard border in Ireland which every one else is against in the north.

He kept latching on to things Carruthers was saying, altering them to mean something else and deflecting.

    Infuriating man to interview.

Nobody on the BBC ever seems to mention the elephant in the room, smuggling. Extensive customs checking will be needed between The Republic and Northern Ireland to stop smuggling if Johnsons plan is implemented.
Johnson and his cronies keep mentioning alternative arrangements like trusted traders & authorised economic operators using technical solutions.
But how will that stop somebody determined to smuggle 100 televisions to the Republic? Johnsons proposal is complete derogation of EU customs codes and WTO rules. The Newsnight team are delusional or choose to be delusional.
They had a Hungarian minister on hoping that he would back the UK, but even he was not giving Kirsty Wark what she wanted.

Did I read it here or someone where else about the number of border crossing between the republic and Northern Ireland is more than the number on the eastern border of the EU ? I couldn’t believe it when I read that. It just shows if I hard border or any kind of infrastructure on the border happens just how hard it will be to police it.

It's been a terrible week for the DUP......backing Johnson's 'offer' is a huge mistake

Mark Carruthers FINALLY ASKS THE QUESTION

Do people in GB think the DUP speak for everyone in Northern Ireland?

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants

They had a Hungarian minister on hoping that he would back the UK, but even he was not giving Kirsty Wark what she wanted.

Saw that, and it wasn't so long ago the likes of the BBC were decrying the Hungarians as the far right, now they're playing best friends.

Thought that was a bit cheeky, her claiming "ought every EU country to have a voice", he gave her some platitude.

At the end of the day, Hungary, Poland, Italy know where their bread is buttered.

I guess they can go back to the Faroe Islands for allies.

Agree with every single word here

That was brilliant from Bonnie Greer. Great to see our American friends speaking up for us.

Quite unimpressed with Prime Time Tonight - very poor journalism

O Callaghan questioning as to why ireland wont accept the BoJo NON-Deal was not rhetorical - that may as well have been an Express or a Toriograph Journalist interrogating someone

They seem more concerned with the weather tonight-

Question Time on the Beeb later - that will be interesting as they tend to have a good panel

To be fair Brexit is a bit of a s**t storm :)

Bonnie Greer is amazing on this programme!

A white English man in the audience disagreed with her when she said it’s hard to be a foreigner in the UK right now. My god, how she restrained her anger at such a moronic comment from someone who has never, and will never, have to deal with xenophobia and racism because he probably never sets foot outside Merseyside, I do not know.

About being foreign- “you’re not, I am, so I know what I’m talking about”- damn right.

True, but if an Irish person said that, would a journalist from Newstalk be so praising?

Or would they be dissected on the Sindo by the usual West Brit brigade, FG and FF are often the first to jump on someone who calls out British hypocrisy, Miriam O'Callaghan would have some offended orangeman in tow
