Well that's a complete lack of consistency with other games.

This game too. Scotland had a few penalties against them already with nothing earlier. Barnes is going to Barnes though

I'd forgotten Conan was still on the pitch until that.

Lads, stander has been incredible in defense.
Every single tackle has been extremely dominant and knock the scot backwards

NZ could break their 2015 QF score against this Scotland side.

Great turn over on our 5M line.

if it was a one score game Barnes wouldn’t have flashed a yellow . It was a token.

Farce of a call, Barnes does tend to pity the losing side IMO.

Scotland have rarely threatened to get into good positions, and on the rare times in which they have they have fluffed it - very poor.

Ah here, Conan has been really good.

Cant see what he did wrong? On feet and wasnt part of the tackle. He lost his feet at the end but started perfectly legally

I don't know. That was a yellow all day.

Did anyone hear what the yelow for beirne was for? He wasnt the tackler, was on his feet and entitled to contest?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,231 ✭✭✭A-Train

Great defence. Don’t let them in for anything.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,385 ✭✭✭Nerdlingr

VDF again with the turnover. Outstanding.

When he hit the deck he did wrap the ball but yellow?

Yesterday was the problem though, not today.

Get Best off now. We need him rested.

He will skip the next three exhibition games I presume

No the Russians will absolutely destroy Ireland when they play each other. Fact.

A lot of smartarse replies from armchair know it alls. Off putting.

Another chap posted Sexton replacement, gave a wrong name and lads licking their lips to point out the mistake.

You must not be watching the game so, because he’s made more tackles than anyone else in the Ireland team.

    Where's the yellow now Barnes.

Preventing a team from clearing their lines is as cynical as stopping a team attacking

You have to admire Hogg. Never gives up.

Think he went off his feet momentarily, then back on, maybe he was leaning on his knees, we didn't get a good angle, Barnes was right there, tbf. Penalty, ok...yellow? Harsh.

Scotland will always let you down .They are hopeless.

Ireland’s backs defense has been unreal.

Where's the penalty for Ireland in the Maul?

Advise 4 he's in the wrong place 4/5 times.

  • Registered Users Posts: 589 ✭✭✭baas baa

Brilliant read by McGrath, we've given them nothing all game.

He ended up not supporting his weight and didn't release the ball

He deliberately killed any chance for Scotland to get the ball out quickly while they had us on the ropes. Well deserved for the cynicism. The fact that it’s not consistently applied is a problem but you can’t argue with the merit if the decision.

The pitches are cutting up badly.

Scotland getting away with a lot now. Never a yellow, in at the sides, trip, tackle in the air, holding back at the ruck.p

they’ll have to drop Laidlaw for the next game, he’s made Russell’s game so much harder.

He was the second man and on his feet pulling on the ball for a fair while.

Another harsh pen against us, timing looked grand.

For a supposedly world class player, Finn Russell is invisible far too often.

Yep. VDF hasn’t even hit double digits.

    Conan, then Ryan.

He's like Parisse with Italy in a way. Deserves much better for his performances

He was but when he went off his feet he certainly was not letting go. That’s what he got the yellow fi.

Barnes doing his best to gift Scotland a score now.

That was a perfectly timed tackle.
Scotland allowed make camp at the Irish end of a maul.

    Cop on Barnes

What's the verdict here? Are Ireland really good? Are Scotland really bad? A bit of both?

  • Registered Users Posts: 589 ✭✭✭baas baa

    Shutout would be hugely satisfying.

I think it says it all that we got to near midnight the evening before the game and there has been no match thread.

We are going to do a number on Scotland tomorrow. The main story on Monday isn't going to be the scale of Ireland's victory - it will be that Japan have a serious chance of making the play offs - such will be our dismissal of Scotland.

Out of the doldrums folks, it's finally time for Joe to put on that Show.

    Nostradamus-like stuff here

How long does he need to be on ball before he wins a penalty? It was unquestionably harsh.

Defence has been unreal all day.
