It's not up to you to have a problem with it or not though, because you're not of the race being depicted.

People still try the 'good ol' days' fallacy?

Good point! Except quite often it seems to be white people that have the problem with it on behalf of black people.

I actually don’t know where to stand on this issue.
Not being black it’s hard to form an actual honest opinion if this is offencive or racist or just stupid.

    Here’s a question.
How about the millions of Japanese ladies who strive for porcelain white skin, are they being racist ?

Or how about all the Irish women putting on fake tan that's far too many shades darker than their natural colour? Possibly racist against Oompa loompas?

I need as much defence against the likes of you and your ideas as I do against dragons and fairies.

You're nothing but an Internet nobody that believes in Internet ideas. God speed, little fairy

I’d actually buy into a certain amount of the virtue signalling theory, and I know you’re only dying to have this rant so are attaching it to anything I say because you just need someone to be aggressive towards, but there’s one MASSIVE flaw in what you’re saying...

We’re on boards. And boards almost-official position on any of these issues is “Myeeeehh men never did anything wrong anyway, women are evil wenches trying to take our money and kids away! What’s with the damn kids being so offended these days anyway?! Snowflake snowflake snowflake!”

So, with that in mind, me saying this stuff while being aware of this works totally counterintuitively towards your idea that people only say this for thanks and likes, since I’m well aware not going to get any for it here and I’ll have to instead deal with anonymous dopes under pseudonyms such as yourself fighting for their right to be racist and creepy. Which isn’t anyone’s idea of a fun way to spend a day. Which only leaves the possibility that, shock horror, I actually think the things I said I think to begin with and it’s not all a big conspiracy just to annoy you, a person I’ve never met or spoke with until you addressed me...

Yeah I'm fighting for my right to be racist. Sure.

Reconsider your life, you goon :p

Doing impressions of travellers is racist now too!

There goes my Halloween costume idea of Glenroe traveller Blackie Connors in blackface.

Until you get explicit permission from an actual black blackie connors, I'm afraid not.

It's up to some random-yet-simultaneously-specific person as to whether you are allowed do something which has all the human rights significance of utterly butterly being utterly buttery.

Being half Mexican/Native I have been to parties with white folks in fake moustaches, sombreos and telling Juan jokes(which were funny and mostly true).People now are too sensitive and look for reasons to be angry. Most the atrocities are condemned to history. I don't get triggered when someone mentions the Alamo or the trail of tears. Most of the protesters are white to ease their own conscience.

Nowhere in that journal 'article' is the word 'racist' mentioned, unless I missed it.

Which is a problem because they are actually trying to get people to consider it racism.

Which it isn't. Because both us and the travellers are Caucasian.

Would it be racist to dress as a Arab seikh for Halloween?

    🙈🙉🙊

I don't know, but now you've got me thinking about an incident in my past... It was a while ago, I was young, I didn't know any better.
But one year in school, in the run up to Christmas, I got dressed up, wrapped a sheet around me, with a teatowel on my head. It was for a school play, I was meant to be a wise man, but now i wonder...

Nothing wrong with dressing like them. It's when you slap the boot polish on your face things can get ropey

I though this topic was handled sensitively in the sitcom Peep Show. NSFW.

Justin Trudeau is obviously not racist. He will be butchered now by right wing extremist sites like rebel media in an attempt to kill his re-election. Its similar to the "n" word. POC (people of color) can use it and that's fine, but when whites or racists use the word, it is unacceptable. Justin should suffer as a result of these photos. He has dedicated his life to progressive causes and this should stand to him. If trump or any other right wing extremist, which there have been many, did blackface, there would obviously be racist intent. One is not the same as the other.

Meghan Markle announced herself as a woman of colour. Ffs...If you knew nothing about her (lucky you) you'd never think twice about her being a 'woman of colour'. I know plenty of people with a darker tan and they are not people of colour. Such fcuking bullshít I never heard.
