Haven't had a chance to listen to the top three yet but putting Nick Cave last?! People have been hung, drawn and quartered for lesser crimes than this.

I nearly submitted a Nick Cave song for this category. Different song though (Deanna). Wonder how that would have done if the main complaint was the length.

Deanna would have been a great choice imo.

    Me too!
I was going to go for 15 Feet of Pure White Snow for multiple names

But I've been waiting for a good time to throw Enter Shikari in :)

It's ok GnR, you ain't alone against the Nick Cave love-in. I don't get it at all *Shrugs*

If I can put my multimedia-snob cravat on for a moment, Nick Cave is for the people who understood Inception; For the ones who thought Looper was the better and more coherent film, enjoy your George Ezra :D

Yes, I am the guy who submitted ThunderKiss '65. And I'd do it again!

I listened to it about seven times before I caught it

I even included it in the PM: "2. A song with a number in it – Everybody wants to rule the world by Tears for fears (Line: "One headline, why believe it?"). One of the best synth-pop bands around, second only to maybe simple minds. This is their best track."

Glad you liked it, but then......

I was cooking lasagne while listening to this category, this song came on, sometime after we had eaten it and washed up it ended. 15 f**king minutes.

    Sorry $hifty

Heres the last set of clues, no reverse googling the image please!

    Cat stevens only happier

Reminded me of a street band I saw in New Orleans, liked this

I never liked these much but I do like this

Loved this, was top for a long time

Probably would have scored higher if I'd never heard it before

    Glen Campbell-esque - catchy tune

    Good solid pick

His voice began to grate on me a bit after a few listens

Love this, love him, again would have scored higher if I didn't know it

    This was grand, nice diddy

    Classic country love song

Why couldn't you have come up with something like this for every round?

Great song, love this fellas voice

Just didn't do it for me

I imagine a cowboy whos never had sex wrote this song

Folk? At a stretch, noise would be a better description

    Never really got me going

Don't know what to say about this, its a bit of a weird song

Really liked this, not what Id consider folky but too good to be marked down

Love the artist, love the song, do not love them both together

    Really nice voices

So a lot of songs were borderline country, this song can't see the line, the line is a dot to this song

My entries appear to be fairly hit or miss, so I'm due a hit. I'll go for this one.

Also, who cares how long the song is if its a good one? Surely you can't get too much of a good thing.

    4 - 10 - 17 - 20 - ?

To continue the trend, I guess

Folk? At a stretch, noise would be a better description

This is the single greatest song I have ever heard and you, sir, have just won Walrus. I'm sorry for what I said about White Zombie, I see now you had a plan and the whole list had to be eaten like a 5 course meal, start to finish, not nibbled like a half a bag of quavers found under a seat at a James Blunt café show

Is this mine? I feel like this is mine.

You know you ****ing loved my Country pick. You can't not have. It's the greatest song of all time, as well as the greatest story ever told, and it's all 100% unembellished truth.

    so that makes me :

"Why couldn't you have come up with something like this for every round?"

And I'll tell you why - because there can only ever be one song this good in the universe. One. And this is it.

Sorry Banjo I'm claiming this because after 19,18,19,16 I have to get at least one in the top ten to hopefully keep myself off the bottom :(

    I really hope I'm not
    "Cat stevens only happier"
Because there's nothing happy about this tragic story of loss, heroism and sacrifice

Could really be any of these (the way I've been guessing it's most likely something else entirely mind)

Oh I didn't see "Don't know what to say about this, its a bit of a weird song"
    That's me sorted.

But you do know what to say. You say "And our winner is..." followed by my name.

    For me

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,440 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

It's one of these but I can't tell which! :p EDIT: And I am willing to accept minus six bonus points if I'm wrong!!

At the very least I'm hoping quickbeam will appreciate it!
