That All saints song is a real blast from the past and is also very good

Here's hoping blasts from the past are the currency for the round.

But my first album was around the times of Radio Lux.

    23 Place - Seal - Deep Water

Its like two songs put together, neither of which are that good

Did not like this song, like I say, two bad songs sellotaped together

23 points and early wooden spoon contender

I'd love to claim Siamese Dream as my first album, but it was actually Now That's What I Call Music 27 ;)

I had now that’s what I call music

Literally, no numbers. It was the first one :D

Banjo worried what we all say about him if he'd picked Crazy :p

So we have a first time Walrus entrant picking up the top prize from the first round

1st Place - Wings - Band on the Run

Could easily have been my entry to best song ever

Have always loved this song, its absolutely fantastic, fair play to
    Spook_ie

Have you still got it, must be valuable by now I would have thought.

This is the only round where I had heard the winner in advance of this competition

For me anyway the competition gets a lot better from here

5th Place - Elton John - Made in England

Hadn't heard this before which is surprising given who it is

Never heard this before and with a name like that you'd expect it to be played off Sky Sports or some such. Really great song

    5 points goes to
    Mollyb60

Damn Werewolf! I would've picked this comment as mine too. No one's ever heard of the Made in England album and it has some great songs on it. Slightly cheated on this category as I won the album on a phone in radio show. It was the first CD in my house. :D

    2nd Place - Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm

What a cool album to be your first

Great song and great first album, again unlucky not to be top

Bit of a cocky git though is
    Electric Nitwit

My absolute favourite Pumpkins song. Excellent choice.

Had a few albums on cassette that the parents bought for me but I felt that was cheating to enter something from them :(

As I said to GnR in my PM, twas my first summer working with my dad, got my first payment and went and bought an Alcatel phone and Baby! One More Time from the shop feeling like I was super rich :o

    Banjo.

That Kate Bush song was a mucky clay that Utah Saints fashioned in to a masterpiece. Raw materials.

Great choice Spook - was listening to that track today (prophetic :) ) excellent reveal G&R! I'm away most of the week, hopefully I'll get a chance to follow.

Do we get another quiz in the next round?

Do we get another quiz in the next round?

Next round is without a quiz because some of you actually came up the aisle to these songs and I've insulted enough people on this forum without calling their magical moment a steaming turd

But the quiz will return for the later rounds!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,557 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Well played Spook, classic choice there :)

I feel like that was my safest round, I'll enjoy my elevated position for now!

Great work Green&Red, that was wonderfully hosted. Still can't believe you've taken on 23 and added a side game but you made it look easy!

    I have no words.

And if I did, I'd keep them to myself because you'd just keep repeating 4 of them back at me while banging a beat on a biscuit tin.

Thanks GnR. I, for one, support your daily quizzes with each round. I think they added a lot of fun to it. And I liked the ordering too. Kept us on edge about where we might appear.

@Pretzil - love me the Supertramp too! They weren't my first album, but they were one of my first too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭Ectoplasm

And to think I thought GnR had decent taste in music. :pac:

I'd actually agree that Phoenix Park gig was dire but I've seen them live a few times and they are very hit and miss. Either epically good or shocking bad.

Still a terrible excuse to rank my song so low though :P

The quiz will be returning for the last three rounds but without any negative scoring to encourage people to guess, theres enough negativity in the world. I'll try and get the clues up good and early to give people a good chance

There are better known songs on this album, though none of them are better songs.

Bad Medicine was crotch rock by the numbers. Yawn!

Lay Your Hands On Me was crotch rock you could play at church. GENIUS!

My fcuking idiot husband just got the serious glares when I started playing this song just now. He said 'oh that must be a disney song is it?'. When I rolled my eyes at him he said 'what? is it not disney?'. *sigh*

You'll find his body under the tree at the bottom of our garden.

(Edit: just to be clear, we walked down the aisle to this song together)

14th Place - She moved through the fair - flutist

This was scored down cause I've a relation who insists on singing a dreary version of this at every singsong we're at

    Sorry
