    21st Place - Radiohead - 2+2=5

    These peaked long before this

Ah here, while that is far from Radiohead's best song you really can't say they peaked before that when In Rainbows exists!

3rd Place - Tears for Fears - Everybody wants to rule the world

    Pitchforks at the ready

It took me a while to catch the number in this song, completely outside the spirit of the round but f**k it, its an absolutely brilliant tune. Although the two black guys in tuxes dancing at the petrol pumps are a little weird

Probably says it all that Bob Marley languishes in last place with an absolute perfect song choice for this round and Tears for Fears get into the podium with a track that doesn't count, literally. :(

    1 number?

simple, doesn’t even have to be in the title but preferably not just with a passing mention

Preferable but not essential, somethings transcend rules

I can’t listen to any. I’m at my folks house and no broadband. Last time I listened to a walrus out here it cost me a fortune!

    And I remember her saying.... I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead; I'm already dead;

No ragrets, I love that stupid song. Even though I'm singing the song I didn't submit by the same band. I'm complerkated.

When I first saw the winning entry I presumed it was this song

Which would have scored very highly

No 1 - Sharon Van Etten - Seventeen

Never heard this before, went straight in @ No. 1

Never heard this before but from the first listen it would have taken something really special to move this, fantastic song. Presumed it was an 80s song until I pulled up the song to link a video here, I'll be looking out for more of her stuff, exactly what the walrus is about

    Great choice

Great choice Homer - well done. Thanks G&R although I think I may prepare for the wooden drumstick a great collection tonight. Nicely judged, if a little partisan and peculiar in rank - (must be the impeachment)

Yeah, when I submitted what I thought my comment was going to be, I thought we wer e playing the folk round..... queue my surprise when I saw David Bowie being submitted and scoring midtable...

I think everyone could agree on the winner and I think it'll be the same with the names round, the winner is fantastic

My name one could have been my folk one too. I doubt it'll be winning.

Yay, glad you enjoyed it G&R (and relieved that I was wrong about my guess! :p ) Sharon Van Etten is definitely worth checking out, her latest album Remind Me Tomorrow, which was released this year and has "Seventeen" on it, is actually a pretty good starting point; it has a bit more electronics/synth than her previous work and is perhaps a bit more commercial sounding (while still being authentic/not a sellout!) Her earlier albums are a bit more introspective, led either by guitar or piano.

    Some suggestions for further tunes:
If you want something upbeat and rocky, try "Serpents" or "Comeback Kid"
For moody synthpop, go with "Jupiter 4" (another one I could have used here!)
For a more acoustic, singer-songwriter vibe, "Give Out" is one of my favourites.
For a sombre, beautiful piano piece go with "I Know" (wonderful live performance on Jools Holland here.)
And if you want a singalong chorus, there's "Every Time The Sun Comes Up" (not one of my favourites but it seems to be one of her most popular ones)

She also does some really nice covers; Flaming Lips' "Do You Realize?", Sinéad O'Connor's "Black Boys on Mopeds" and Skeeter Davis's "The End of the World" (the latter especially really suits her voice).

This just sounded like one of the songs off pablo honey or OK computer that you'd have skipped past to get to the good songs. Not a patch on their earlier stuff
    Electric Nitwit
    falls back towards the pack

Just catching up, obviously I disagree with everything you say :p
    I love this song

This was the opener to the first album after the Kid A/Amnesiac set and was such an exhilarating, visceral burst after their relative calm. It's also become more relevant these days if anything, it's message being that politics goes to **** when people become detached from it

    It's the Devil's way now,
    There is no way out,
You can scream and you can shout,
    It is too late now
    Because you have not been
    Payin' attention...

    - The title itself is a straight lift from 1984

As Homer alluded to, any argument that Radiohead peaked early just suggests you haven't given In Rainbows enough listens. And Hail to the Thief, which 2+2=5 is on, is bloated and needs cutting down to about 10 songs, but it would then rightfully be recognised as a classic too

So no regrets, it's an awesome tune.
Luckily I know you'll make it up to me now when my name choice wins :p
