So we all know very well by now the global phenomenon that is Facebook, that has become a goliath in the Web based social media arena.

ATM I’m watching our all-time favourite TV Channel, RTE 1, and the documentary The Facebook Dilemma is being aired.

The impression I get from this programme with respect to the issue of Facebook and the less pleasant aspects of its operation is not so much down to some sort of dark evil conspiracy (like sharing users’ personal data with third parties) but the exponential growth of the platform that hugely outpaced its founder CEO Mark Zuckerberg and others in FB in terms of their abilities and judgement.

During a TV interview where Zuckerberg is challenged by his interviewer, he breaks out into a cold sweat, has what looks to me like a panic attack and is clearly way out of his depth. Given this sort of organisational environment it seems to me that FB is a sitting duck for infiltration by sinister agents and it has largely been sheer luck a disaster hasn’t yet happened.

    Thoughts?

I'd love if that type of social media vanished from the face of the Earth.

It has turned almost everyone into a right eegit and the quality of human relations has taken a big hit.

Well, governments are already on the social credits train so I suppose they could be called "sinister agents".
But OP probably means Mossad :D

Only those of a certain vintage. I'm 40 and I'm not old enough yet.
