Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I dunno what Corofin were at - did they never see any Dublin matches, and how to breakdown the ultra defensive team?

    1) Don't bring the ball into the tackles
    2) Play handpasses and wait
    3) Maybe take the odd long shot

Instead they did mostly the opposite for ages.

Amazed how poorly they started, you would swear it was a new invention they were up against.

I can't get my head around it.

Did they not practice it in training or what?

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

I think their saving grace is that they kick pass the ball more than other teams, making it slightly more attractive to watch.

They'll play it any way the game dictates and can change it up at different phases. Very few teams can do that. The likes of Kilkoo have one plan and that's it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,912 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Instead of killing this game I think the red card improved it.

I don't think it will have made much difference to Kilkoo considering the system they play. It is just one body less that can funnel back.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

One bad half and you throw the entire game under the bus. There's plenty of drab hurling games but that gets swept under the carpet.

One bad half? Football has been poor for years. Where have you been looking at it?

Well kilcoo might level this now

Kilcoo are as dirty as anything, jesus ulster football is grim

Nice rugby tackle there from Corofin:rolleyes:

Well kilcoo might level this now

The game is like groundhog day Dublin v Donegal AI Semi Final 2011 0-8 0-6.
Where the Dubs were nearly caught
Just the colours are different. Still can't believe how Corofin do not know how to play against that type of system. Not rocket science the examples were set

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

With all the people going on about the Hurling at least we're getting a more exciting finish to this game.

Is it exciting? Kilcoo unable to execute basic score taking within the 45.

It is not the football that has being poor just that tactians running the teams much easier to funnell behind a ball and try and keep the score down.

When the top teams play football and vary thier game it is fantastic like Dublin v Kerry etc. Dublin v Mayo games. Donegal v Kerry Draw. etc

I would not have considered the hurling to be fantastic last year by any means - by the way.

6 minutes into extra time the kilcoo number 13 inside his own 13 meter line and they need a score.
They had 13 players inside their 45 for that free.

    What a joke.

Corofin look like a completely different side to the team who put in a scintillating performance in the final last year.

That is an excuse of a game. What a joke. Corofin have gone way down in my estimation after that. What ****e.

  • Registered Users Posts: 149 ✭✭Pearlstone

Lane doing his best to have no winner...neither of them deserve to win it...

To be honest I did not the club hurling or club football finals have being great for the neutral.
Ballyhae never looked in doubt and were in control once they got the few points lead.
Played within themselves and just waited for mistakes/chances

This football game is an example of poor preparation and tactics by Corofin, and the only reason thier is any sort of interest because it is close

Football needs to go to 13 a side. Create extra space on the pitch for the better forwards. Implement zones to tackle the blanket.

Whoever thinks that ****e is better than hurling doesnt have a clue. What muck.

He moved free forward a long way i thought there. Maybe rules allow him to do that, i thought it was 10 metres.

Rightly brought forward for dissent. Corofin have been their own worst enemy the past 6 or 7 minutes. If they juat continued playong they would've won.

    Turning very nasty.Very disappointing.

He kicked it from another 10m ahead of where it was brought forward to.

Kilcoo letting themselves down badly after the whistle - nothing manly about hitting lads in the back

Yeah brought forward once, say 5-8 metres inside 45? Was actually kicked just outside D. Lane and lino's asleep.

    Extra time or replay?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,426 ✭✭✭wirelessdude01

Supporter entered the tunnel from the crowd. Think it was a Corofin one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭CurryFlavoured

Exciting finish but what a load of dirt. Awful cynical by corofin, shocking shooting by kilcoo. Rule change needed. Limit handpasses or put in a clock forcing teams to advance the ball. I dunno, I'm open to suggestions. The semi finals were low scoring scrappy games too, just not as bad as this.

    Was it a sub?

Conor lane spot on with how far he brought it forward.

Was it brought forward twice though or did kilcoo fella Rob 10 metres?

It is not a problem when there are intelligent footballers and sideline who have thought thier players to vary thier play.

The problem is when the lower quality players/mangers play they only know one way and that is stay defensive - no variety.

That is the issue not the game of football itself.

You could argue that some teams have to play defensive that way or they would never have a hope.
Cheddar Plunkett did the same with the Laois hurlers when I think of it.
Kept the score down ran Galway close,

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

He stole a few metres alright, maybe 4 or 5 but not more than that.

    I've actually turned it off.
70 mins of that ****e was enough, I don't care who wins now.
