Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This was a chance for players on the fringe and guys out if form to make an impression. But other than Ruddock, nobody has made a positive impression. Kleyn is an empty shirt, Aki has dropped everything and PoM is half the player he was 18 months ago.

Sexton was good until they took him off.

Ireland's T-Rex offense fails to work again, turns out even if the receiver doesn't move he can still be seen and indeed tackled!

    A little bit of gloss.

This has been pathetic from Ireland though. Made Russia look ten times better than they actually are. The selections of Kleyn and McGrath have been proven to be as wrong as they looked when the squad was announced.

Needed to see a positive bounce back performance after Japan. This feels like 2007 all over again.

There were similar when England played there. Russians are dropping the ball too.

There were, 1 before half time at about 32 minutes and the second for the high tackle in the second half.

Larmour, you take a bow for starting that

Ireland are playing rugby! Why, why, why have we not been even attempting this before now, and do not give me "Waiting for Russia to lose energy"

Who cares what it makes me feel? I'm not a member of the squad who is actually playing. What they care about is saving their energy and bodies for that quarter final. Secure the bonus points and the win, and then take your foot off the gas. To do otherwise is a terrible tactic in a knockout game.

exactly....the idea that form, confidence, results, numbers, minutes whatever have no bearing on a seven game World Cup is mind boggling.

The idea that we can just turn up to a quarters o nthe back of poor performances is so arrogant.

Also Joeball creates so many phases that the numbers have a huge bearing on later games. The amount of carries, rucks that this system has you carry out has a massive effect. Why do this versus such a poor side like Russia

The only thing i can cling to is that this is a ruse. started after the 2018 november games.

If Conan were fit I'd be tempted to go Ruddock, VdF and Conan for the QF. Pom and Stander haven't done the business at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,450 ✭✭✭Wegians89

Ruddock MOTM, should start with vdf and stander in quarter

Pretty sure a few sexy tries would make the players feel better and be more confident too, which can only be a good thing after the low of last week and the first 60 minutes today

Job done I suppose. Bonus point victory.

However, that’s about the only positive after that. Once again we started well and got two good quality quick tries and then our levels just dropped off completely.

Aki has basically played himself off the team, Kleyn non existent, another injury, awful handling errors, failing to first create any chances and then when we did we panicked and lost complete control.

    35-0! What a scoreline!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,136 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

And we're guaranteed a QF. Not much else to say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,617 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

The only positive I can take is Mcgrath got 80 minutes which will stand to him and Murray was rested, but Mcgrath was slow and got in trouble a bit
Ruddock was sharp and aggressive, as he should be.
POM should have been able to dominate and didn't, his 6 jersey must be under big pressure now
    Kleyn wasnt there.
Henderson had a cameo to forget
Aki had a poor game and we didnt look to get Ringrose & the back 3 into attack enough.
Earls & conway are reliable and make the right decision with the scraps they get.

    Unimpressive

T.B.P., no points conceded and a nice bit of play for the last try. On to Samoa.

They all looked wrecked again. 6 day turn around followed by a 5 day turn around. Hopefully the break now until the Samoa game will give them the time to recover.

I'd say it's more the conditions that they are not used to at all.

in another 2 weeks due to be closer to what they are used to.

thoroughly unconvincing stuff tho - a victory over SA and NZ would be unlikely at best most would have to admit. unreal turnaround required.
