Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Russia are decent in fairness, certainly put it up to Samoa for large periods.

Funny everyone said that about ireland. Japan playing at home after trouncing us will be very heard to beat for a scotland team who have been poor all year

Ireland are a much better team than Japan. One game doesn't change that.

Poor Kleyn is at a hiding to nothing when he plays. I say even if he scored loads people would still say should be Toner. It is not his fault he got picked. Should he have rejected it?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭Niallof9

agreed. I think it was also a mistake announcing his successor already particularly when that coach has never been a head coach.

We'll pull away to a 38 -0 score and everybody will talk of learnings and focusing on samoa etc. But nobody will address the elephant in the room. The lack of attacking threat in our backline and our constant one out running multi phase, multi ruck game.

Kleyn shouldn't have been selected. He's very poor.

Mcgrath is a bug step down from Murray. Marmion must be watching pulling his hair out.

    people said Ireland "would" win

in fairness he says Scotland "could" beat japan

    which is true

In fairness to Schmidt, waiting until after the World Cup would not have allowed any time for succession planning.

I wouldnt agree with that. The argument for appointing farrell was continuity , right now the last thing we need is continuity.

Job done bonus point. Pity about the injuries. Always have relied too much on Sexton. He shouldn't have played in this game, he should have wrapped up in cotton wool for the quarter final.

Really don't like that commentator on RTE with Donal Lenihan, is it Hugh Cahill? comes across as a smarmy git, I'd like to see him have to run around in that ridiculous stadium in those ridiculous conditions. I said it before and I'll say it again it's an absolute disgrace that Japan was awarded this tournament.

Schmidt should have not said he was going until after World Cup
Our form is gone to **** since

Should he have signed a pretend contract extension or something. I can't believe how often that utterly asinine point is brought up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

they are a much better team than Japan, so they could easily beat them!

Ireland are meant to be a better team then Japan but I do agree Scotland should win

    Yes it could
Schmidt has no job lined up
Farrell could have been told you have job keep mouth shut
    Very simple

It is an absolutely terrible point. His contract expires at the end of this world cup - if he hadn't signed an extension then he was obviously not staying on. How on earth could anyone think either a massive uncertainty over what was going on or a painfully stupid "conspriacy"-esque attempt to hide what was going on would have helped matters.

Quinlan is right, why kick that out.

Is there any other top team in World Rugby who don't counter attack in that situation.

    It's an ideal one for Larmour . . .

In not so sure, if you watch the last scrum back on replay Luke stepped on the snail that has been following him around all day.

Garces cannot referee a breakdown, im convinced after seeing this

This was a chance for players on the fringe and guys out if form to make an impression. But other than Ruddock, nobody has made a positive impression. Kleyn is an empty shirt, Aki has dropped everything and PoM is half the player he was 18 months ago.

It’s hard to get in anyway positive about this team

    Only took 74 minutes

We have no backline attack. Has Joe given up coaching the backline? Or passed the reigns to Faz

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,932 ✭✭✭Paleface

They all looked wrecked again. 6 day turn around followed by a 5 day turn around. Hopefully the break now until the Samoa game will give them the time to recover.

Why counter attack? What possible benefit would another score bring at this stage?
