Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there,
Have you ever seen this used before? Looks like a block on the side, coming off the Sub-Floor, I guess to keep the timber studs off that level, so they don't rot?? (Is that it's sole purpose)

Most people I've seen, just build directly off the subfloor with their studs, Is there a big need to do this? (The Engineer spec'd it)

    Thanks

Engineer specified it! What are you asking? Do you need to follow the structural design?

Edit: whoo is responsible for part L? Is that a thermal bridge? You may need to ask eng to stiffen screed and build of it.

Engineer, is not beyond copying and pasting standard details LOL... I'VE seen a number of houses like mine with the studding made off the sub floor. They had engineers on they're jobs too, do it must be alright, I'd love to know what the real purpose of it is

Is it that bad a cold bridge if its internal wall, coming off the slab?

That DPC is installed under my slab already, I'd hate to have followed that detail and have to wrap it over every place there's stud walls. Like that would work well.

    Noise.

    My guess...

Specification of Fosroc Thioflex suggests that detail is for a movement joint rather than acoustic isolation, for which a specially elastomeric sealant would be specified.

You could replace the blockwork with quinnlite
