Vacant Site at Smithfeild

Construction on the small site next to Luas lines between F Courts / Smithfield. Anyone know whats going there. Guessing apartments but any info on height etc?

There's a site there for the proposed family and children courts. Has been much delayed so not sure if that's the one you mean.

The site was supposed to be for the family courts and was due to be built and opened in 2020!(the OPW has owned it and it has been vacant for over 20 years!).

There is some sort of dispute in the Dept Of Justice about what will go on it (seems someone wants to move the Supreme Court to there) and this has delayed it further.

Now its seems the council is renting it out as a building compound to avoid the vacant site levy!
So it will probably be another 5 years before anything is built on it!

Ah, I think you mean the one under construction on Smithfield square that's under construction.

That's offices, google distillers building for details.

Noticed that, it seems they've just set up some prefabs there for admin for the nearby construction site (presumably).

The cynic in me reckons they're using it now as an excuse to kick out the increasing number of homeless people who were living in tents in there.
