Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whoop, the pitch where that scrum was looks like a rug.

    Jaysus.

When you need your leaders Sexton steps up. Great little play. Nobody expected the blindside switch.

wat a fk joke playing this match on a pitch day cud break legs losing a player which was a yellow. they get a yellow when it was red dreadful ref and to top it all france eng feet up scoties peob shafted 2mrw. it stinks reminds me of s korea v italy in 2002..

    Well done. Job done

    Sexton leading from all angles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

If the ref is a stickler for following the laws, then that applies to the rucks too. Samoa all over them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,723 ✭✭✭✭Squidgy Black

    Thanks be to jaysus.

Also, how come Samoa's scrum wasn't anywhere near this stable against Japan?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,708 ✭✭✭ScissorPaperRock

    Nicely done

That blonde in the Irish jersey though.

I make that 3 times Larmour hasn't made the pass.

Larmour simply is not international standard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,253 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

Only reason Aki given a straight red was because the Samoan looked like he'd been knocked out. It was a yellow at most.

It was a forceful impact to the head, the result to the player with the ball is irrelevant.
    Definition of a red card

Beirne has had a good first half. Looked for work and hadn't really put a foot wrong.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,981 ✭✭✭Naggdefy

    Larmour very good today.

Van der Flier in pack great work rate.

VDF is too light at this level as he drives a Samoan twice his size back with incredible ease

You use one instance when he was well set to 'prove' your point. Yet when he gets blown off the ball you say can't judge on one incident???

As Troyzer said 11kg of muscle lighter than Pocock, who is same height.

You said he was as strong as ANY back row in the tournament. Billy Vinupola?? Talking rubbish.

And you used one instance to prove yours.

Why are you allowed to use one instance to make a point but you have a go at me for doing it?

He’s been our best back-row by an absolute stretch all year. You don’t get to that by being too light.

And he was well able for Billy Vunipola in the warm-up game when nobody else was.

    Get Sexton off.

I'd give Sexton 10 or 15 minutes of the second half. The first 20 minutes of the second half against Russia, with Carty at fly half, were some of the worst I've ever seen us play. We're a far better side with Sexton on the field. Close the game out then take him off.

if anyone ever questions Johnny again, I'll

    a real Irish legend -

But agree , get him off, and wrap him up good for next week

Samoa need to tighten up at the back here or they’ll lose this!

    Thank be to Jaysus.

Have done a lot of good things in that half and it was looking very easy but then we got sloppy once again.

Johnny missed touch, some very poor passing leading to the somoa try and then the red card to aki.

Not saying that at all, but today he's channeling Rob Kearney at times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,543 ✭✭✭dublinman1990

Brilliant BP try from Sexton. It's a great lift after what happened to Aki earlier on in the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,279 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Bit of an odd half. We’re getting the job done despite the hiccups but we still don’t look like we’re going to be smashing the ABs in the quarters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,536 ✭✭✭touts

Bonus point secure but not the win. 14 men and a long hot second half to come.

That said the way this TMO and Ref are going they have at least another 2-3 yellows and another red in them so who knows how many players will actually finish this game.

No need to force anything now. Just play the game in their half - keep them pinned in there.

No complaints with the red but curious what the call would have been if Aki had pulled out of the tackle by standing up and the Samoan player fell into him?

    Terrible mismatch.

Considering Samoa not an absolute mino?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,322 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Advert for a new rte show called...Pulling with my parents....followed by a trailer for fair city with some of the worst acting I have ever seen...this is why people are pissed off at the license fee...oh and the commentary at the rugby is useless

Bundee only has himself to blame

    He knows the rules
Knows high challenges are being clamped down on, he didn't show any lowering of the hips before tackling

Bonus Point at half time. Will take that.
Robbie Henshaw having an absolute howler of a game. Gave away the penalty that led to the Samoan try and I think it was him that flung the wild pass out that led to Bundee's red?
Silly tackle by Bundee all the same and a red all day long. What happens him now? Is it an automatic ban?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

    Henshaw looks understandably rusty
