Look he’s 35, that says more about what other players offer. He’s done ok today arguably better than the other 2 mids and a good few others

First option for Whelan is nearly always to go backwards and give it back to his centre backs though. He can't play between the lines so always takes the safe option. Everything is so slow. If he can't do it one of the centre backs needs to step up with it.
