So we've decided we are going to try to beat Denmark instead of Georgia. Ok

    Throw on Byrne and Connolly.

    Hendericks been muck as usual.
None of the front 3 have been up to much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,537 ✭✭✭pgj2015

Anyone know why its taking so long for a change?

yes, mick has fallen asleep due to the boring play from his team.

    Alan browne??

    Ok. But wtf.

  • Hendrick having a stinker

Absolutely, and Whelan is the one that continues to get the dogs abuse oddly

He's a match winner for Ireland

Any player that has played an assist or scored a goal is a 'match winner'. Such a generic, commentary fodder term.

Mick content with a draw. Putrid.

McCarthy going for the draw. Haha.

    **** off.

He's in a pivotal position though. Meant to get out attacks started or at least set the pace of play in midfield. Hence all the flak.

Not sure that’s what Mick is asking of him. I think he’s more protective. Egan and Duffy are negative on the ball preferring to go back or sideways. I think Whelan is there to encourage them to bring it forward.

Look he’s 35, that says more about what other players offer. He’s done ok today arguably better than the other 2 mids and a good few others

What league do the georgians play in though?
Russia, belgium, Cyprus, Switzerland ah you know all the big ones!

They aren't great but they have a plan we don't really seem to bar hoofing it hoping for a knock down or praying for a set piece.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,000 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

We seem to be playing higher up the pitch which shows grand ambition if we had the ability to get the ball to their feet, as that hoof shows, not even close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭Ohmeha

    Nice hoof there from Hendrick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,057 ✭✭✭UrbanFret

Its important to remember Ireland are a poor side bereft of quality footballers . No amount of flapping will change that.

No sense of urgency. Need to be looking to win this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,640 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

I hope we go on and win this. But imagine the comments on here if this was a MON/Keano managed Ireland performance? The hypocrisy on here at times is off the scale.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭edgecutter

Get Hendrick off. Looks totally asleep and keeps giving the ball away without any pressure.

    That line was a killer!

You Hardy expect Mick to be able to coach the players to improve their technique in a handful of training sessions every year. These boys have been coached all their life.

And yet we probably have more players in stronger leagues/clubs. It’s not just about McCarthy, so how do you explain we have so many players in comparable or better teams then Iceland players, yet we can’t find a couple that can play anywhere near as effective as Iceland? They don’t exactly have a massive pool of players to choose from.

I know teams go through cycles and sometimes everything comes together at the right time. But lack of technical ability doesn’t add up as the primary explanation.

Whelan first. hendrick might have a goal in him.

I was at the u21s game on Thursday and the football those lads play really puts the senior team to shame. Schizophrenic.

Nice reach, considering it's not a 'term' in any sense, nevermind a commentary one.

The amount of hoofball is savage.

If Ireland can't win this match, you may forget about qualification right now.

    Duffy trying to inject something.

    This is terrible.

First option for Whelan is nearly always to go backwards and give it back to his centre backs though. He can't play between the lines so always takes the safe option. Everything is so slow. If he can't do it one of the centre backs needs to step up with it.

Did......did we just have a shot?

Ask Ronnie Whelan to come down out of commentary. Probably still a much better goal threat than Henderick.

Really disappointed in Mick’s ambition here. He has a decent bench and will not use it.

How he hasn’t changed Collins is beyond me

This is desperate, should be able to beat these lads everyday of the week.

This is horrendous to watch. Arc-eye would be less painful.

This is not improving any bit, 0-0 all over it, probably practising for what we'll do v Switzerland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,000 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Useless, three teammates in the box and from an angle slices into the side netting

    Even look at northern Ireland.
Would anyone say they have better players than ROI atm? I doubt it, but they seem to have a coherent plan

    Jesus Christ, bring on Connolly!

100% agree and I think that’s what he’s been asked to do. I don’t think he’s asked to play in between the lines. It’s safe and assure

    He doesn't give a toss

He would happy to be on a beach with his money next summer

Does Mick know we probably need to win this game?

    He's playing for the draw.
Despite the fawning drivel about Mick he's a highly conservative manager.

He's playing the numbers game here.
    A draw matches Denmarks result.
