My THs for today are: putting my hands around a warm mug of coffee on a frosty morning, 4 of the neighbourhood cats visiting, meeting friends for a walk and a picnic later, and a week's annual leave stretching before me.

I got purrs and headbutts!!! It's taken me three good months to get them to trust me that much. One of them (the one my old cat liked) was waiting for me on the kitchen windowsill this evening when I got home. :3

I told you, Seph - you have to start buying cat food and cat treats.

She likes me, I think. :D

A friend of mine living abroad is having a hard time with his wife at the mo. So I'm on to him a lot more than usual, I was on speaker yesterday and the wee lad pipes up and said, "That's Feisar, Daddy's brother". Sort of heart warming.

The book I though was three weeks away was available for collection today! in collecting it I walked for over an hour.

A little girl has literally just learnt to ride her bike outside my house. :) It's like hearing swallows, with all the joyous chattering. :)

I finally found and bought a new winter jacket today. My old one - bought at a Macy's in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2007 as a souvenir of the trip - is nearly falling apart, and the rain-proofing ... isn't any more after the jacket was washed. So I've been looking for a new one, on and off (?) for years: I wanted something light, since it really doesn't get that cold here and I can wear layers if necessary, but I didn't want something "technical"-looking. The one I got is a nice deep olive green, with light quilting and should keep the rain off nicely. Decent price too.

I am having such a happy morning after a very bad start to the week because of some trivial things and one major thing:

    - blue skies!
    - I ate actual breakfast for the first time since August (a chronic illness has been constantly flaring since then, meaning I threw up every time I tried to eat before 11-ish)
    - got my first round of student evaluations back, and they're waaaaaay more positive than I'd thought they'd be (I was very anxious because I hate online teaching)

    And, the big one:

My mamó is being discharged from hospital today!! She's been in since June, had two strokes, a major surgery, spent six weeks total in intensive care, and we nearly lost her so many times that we bracing ourselves for her not coming home. And now my mammy is going to pick her up in three hours! I spent most of my childhood with either set of grandparents (of whom 3 are still alive) to escape a house of boys, so I've very close to them all. I actually can't work I'm so overwhelmed by it, but I think that's ok :)

A week ago I never stuck my head under a car bonnet. I've been educating myself with youtube videos and message boards and online guides.

Due to my car battery being dead I succusfully removed it, used a trickle charger overnight, reinstalled it. I also did a lot of basic stuff. Inflate tyres, topped up oil and windscreen fluid, read message boards to reset some errors after the battery was installed.

I know, I know a first year mechanic learns these their 1st week and would scoff at me as a noob

However I am TH´d!! I learned a tiny amount of new skills and today my 12 year old car passed NCT :)

This stray cat is something else.
I think the whole neighbourhood is feeding her as a lot of the time she turns her nose up at food I give her.

She goes over to the ditch of the farmers field and then the cows come over to her.
She then starts licking herself allover delighted with the audience.
This goes on for about 15minutes, then she just leaves.
The only thing I'm surprised about is that she doesn't come back for an encore!

Am I going blind? I see a crow and some cows but no cat

Brought my little class for a nature walk today. Oh the excitement was adorable! We saw ducks, a swan, a dog and a cat. They were in heaven. We brought back nearly an entire tree's worth of colourful leaves. A great morning!

The cat is right over at the cows. If you look really, really, really closely, there's a faint red arrow pointing to him!

I actually thought the cat was sitting on the fence and looked remarkably like a bird :D
