3 minutes is some joke. I’d say the keeper took that with his goal kicks alone.

Jesus, Swiss lads have to do very little to get booked.

You mean the opposite of this surely? They've been getting away without a whistle for things some of our lads have been booked for.

Embola for such a big guy, sure does fall over a lot and he took Connolly out of it in front of the ref and fouled McClean moments earlier.

He got away with a high boot too. But you know, a "push" by Hendrick is a yellow.

    ONLY 3 MINUTES??

Was thinking the same thing. Switzerland will hold onto it for that time.

Why couldn't they play with this urgency against Georgia. I'll never understand that mentality in what was a bigger game than this truth be told.

they were told not to as usual.....

Do we really have no one other than Hourihane in the squad who can whip a decent ball in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,488 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

Real break on there and about three of them proper f**ked it up with show clumsy passing

    Toothless up front
Think management got a long wrong
    Selection and substitutions

It's the non existent midfield that kills us not the forwards, we never control the ball in midfield and never give the forwards the ball in positions they can work off

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 6,309 Mod ✭✭✭✭mzungu

    We got away with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,316 ✭✭✭✭Father Hernandez

We have Hourihane, Robinson and Doherty all sitting on the bench and we're chasing a game we need to win

Decision making on subs has been shocking tonight

Seems like we don’t, and in midfield a load of fûcking mannequins

Well, unless one thing amazing happens it looks like a loss. No surprise, throughout the qualifiers we never looked like we had an attacking plan to try and beat a top side.

Haha. I glanced at the first 4 pages. And they disagree with "woeful".

Better second half prior to the red card (which iv still seen no replay of so that's a bit suspect) but I can only think of one shot on target and that was a Duffy header straight at the keeper

Whelan has had a great game.

He was excellent our best player

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,488 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

    That's probably a fair reflection

But it wasn't for lack of effort from those Irish lads really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,335 ✭✭✭sonic85

Meh. Expected a loss and wasnt disappointed. The game to go for it was on Saturday. Were not beating Denmark

Be interesting to see what McCarthys take on this game is ?

Did they show a replay of the red card at all?

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

The sooner Stephen Kenny is the manager the better.

James Connolly would struggle to save us tonight.

Relying on a 19 year old with seven games to his name shows what a bog we find ourselves in.

    Woeful is not correct.
Not as good as he was. But not woeful.
Ireland and Everton have been poor for months and months.
He seems to be the scapegoat.
And I don't know any Everton fans that talk like that, but a few Irish ones

Woeful is correct he doesn't deserve to start for any of the two teams. He's rubbish going forward and poor at defending and gives frees away constantly

But sure weren't we just negative for complaining about playing for a 0-0 against Georgia, isn't that right Mick?

We set up for a draw when we needed a win. Dreadful management throughout the past two games.

What the fcuk is Whelan talking about? Not a chance will we beat Denmark based on tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,420 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Great gritty performance. Ref absolutely rode us the whole game. The lads need to take the positives from tonight and put it together next month. It’s possible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,880 ✭✭✭budgemook

First half dreadful - continuation from Tbilisi. Second half was good and if we play like that at home to Denmark we have a chance. That's pretty much as good as we are - it's not great but it might be enough. Hopefully they can reach that level from the get go in Dublin.

We'll get the hole rode off us in Dublin.
