    I saw this in a house viewing a few weeks ago and I dont understand why a water tank would be on a landing?


    Is it because they did not want to or could not fit it in the attic...?

    Looks like an expansion tank for the central heating. It may or may not be still connected. It's glavanized too so could be 30 plus years old.

    I couldn't make out if it is galvanized or not - its got wallpaper covering it (which does make it look metallic in the image)
