After looking pretty good in the first couple of sets Lewis is gone miles off the boil again, mixed with some patches of good darts.

Looks like he will still do enough to win today but still hasn't found any real form.

Jeez Lewis is an absolute shadow of the player he was. Aspinall will barely have to break a sweat to beat him and Gando - would have been laughed out of it if you said that a few years back, looked like they'd both hoover up plenty more world titles along with MVG
I’m the same. I’ve heard others say it too. He has one of those faces...

The hipster beard looks awful on him! Its not 2013 anymore lad

no issue with the guy himself

but the fact he has a beard, beer belly and kids and plays in the youth world champs shows what a joke of a format that comp is.

Lewis really picks such weird times to celebrate big throws. Basically when his opponent is already on a finish or when he's well behind in the leg

It just gees up his opponent more than himself

said earlier in the comp I fancied aspinall or dimitri to be in the PL if they got a run.

they now play each other and think the winner of that game is getting a PL spot, I think

Wade, Mensur White, and Chizzy look kaput in their hopes

Great win but DvdB will have to up it big time against Aspinall

Lewis is so inconsistent, he had to win that game once he went 3-1 up

Asp will get in anyway I’d have thought?

Such a fall from grace by Lewis, sad, top player he was, still young enough not get back in top 4 I think.

if he wins he has to be, his uk open win was probably enough anyway, a defeat might make him sweat a little.

if the PL is a straight TEN would imagine it is

    seven bankers of

    MVG,
    Cross,
    Price.
    Wright,
Smith - just cos of his ranking
Ando - just cos he is a scot even though form wise does not deserve it
Aspinall- due to his uk open

    3 from those still in

    Dimitri
    Durrant - mardles obsession
Dobey - especially if he beats durrant
    Humphries - youth world champ
De Zwaan - If he beats Wright , he will be hard to ignore

those with little or no chance

Wade- said he rather be at home with the wife and kid
White - complete bottle job choker on tv
Mensur has a poor year, even if it was better than Ando
Chizzy- his loss to JdZ cost him big

It's not a straight 10, barry confirmed it was 9 plus contenders the other night on twitter, he deleted it after a while.

then the 7 bankers and 2 from

    Dimitri
    Durrant
    Dobey
    Humphries
    De Zwaan

those that miss out will most likely get a contender spot, with fallon given a night as well

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,011 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Aspinall has to be a cert irrespective of a loss against DvdB - which I can;t see happening anyway

Whitlock maybe? A lot of people thought he was unlucky not to be in this year, after playing in 2018

I think Durrant is a banker too. Hopefully Dobey if he wins another game or 2. The selection for the PL is more exiting than the event itself

Reckon durrant will be in. Hopefully Anderson can use it to get back to his best

Lots of shock online that lewis is out, hardly surprising at all, the man won 3 tv titles in a 20 year career, the most overrated player of all time.

Agree with everything you've said, but I still think Chizzy will be given another go. Still highly ranked despite being a total bottler.
Think Durrant from that lot, assuming he beats Dobey.

    Dimitri will lose to Asp.
    Dobey to Durrant.
Wright will dispose of Humphries and De Zwaan

Remember a topic a while back on a forum asking who was the better player, Wade or Lewis, as both arrived on the scene back in 2006ish,

As you say, take out lewis 2 world titles, his record is abysmal, inly a European champs and a UK open title.

In fact one of those world titles he should never have won, as it was Wade that blew a 5-1 set led in the semi final against lewis.

Had Wade won that match I think he would have won the worlds beating andy hamilton.

I think Lewis cheated to win that game too with the draft/wind on stage .

    forgot about that boring gurney

    eight bankers of

    MVG,
    Cross,
    Price.
    Wright,
Smith - just cos of his ranking
Ando - just cos he is a scot even though form wise does not deserve it
Aspinall- due to his uk open
    Gurney

    1 from those still in

    Dimitri
    Durrant - mardles obsession
Dobey - especially if he beats durrant
    Humphries - youth world champ
De Zwaan - If he beats Wright , he will be hard to ignore

those with little or no chance or just appear as a one night contender

Wade- said he rather be at home with the wife and kid
White - complete bottle job choker on tv
Mensur has a poor year, even if it was better than Ando
Chizzy- his loss to JdZ cost him big
    Sherrock
    White

We all seem to have completely forgotten Gurney. Shows you how big a draw he is really.

Delighted to see Lewis beaten. Hateful bollocks.

Hope Jeffrey gets off to a good start to give him some confidence and a good chance of beating crusty.
Also hope Dobey Dispatches Durrant (the male Sherrock imo)
Would like to see Price win comprehensively in the main event, maybe give the green machine some cause for concern.

Highlight of the day for me so far Humphries taking out 146 in the third set decider after Huybrechts refuses to go for 16 on his second dart of an 83 out for a shot at the bull. Could be called the Luke - Out in future :)

"Wrighty really beating him up" .... Wayne Mardle.. anytime soon

JdZ’s throwing action is solid as f*ck. He’d split an Argos board in 2.
