I've played against Ciaran a few times this year and watch him play every week. Great to see how confident he is here, not fake confidence either he genuinely believes hes a top player. Well able to average over the ton. Cant wait to see him over the next year or 2

How's the 180 numbers looking healio? On track for the 900 or a bit off it?

We are slightly ahead of the total after day 3 last year (incl. for reference to 880 scored last year).

More worryingly though have lost White, Cross & Smith with MVG only having 1 so far. However, Luke Woodhouse and Luke Humphries are both filling in nicely for the moment.

Player Date Played Sets Won Legs Won Tourn. 180's Per Set Tourn. Legs Per 180 140+ 180s High Checkout 180's Per Set Legs Per 180
    13-Dec Day 1 17 77 1.7059 2.6552 29 1.7059 2.6552
    14-Dec Day 2 31 137 1.7292 2.5783 54 1.7419 2.5370
    15-Dec Day 3 32 141 1.7500 2.5357 57 1.7813 2.4737
    Total 80 355 1.7500 2.5357 140

    Vs Same Period Last year

Year Sets Won Legs Won Tourn. 180's Per Set Tourn. Legs Per 180 140+ 180s
    2019 77 314 1.7143 2.3788 132

With that 180 rate of 1.7500 180's per set played:

If all matches from here end up 3-0 legs and X - 0 Sets we have:
267 sets left; returning a tournament total of 347 Sets and 607 180's.

If all matches from here end up 3-2 legs and go the distance (excluding tie-breaks) we have:
459 sets left; returning a tournament total of 539 Sets and 943 180's.

Mid point of the extremes has us at:
363 sets left; returning a tournament total of 443 Sets and 775 180's.

No too worried at this stage, the business end starts in round 3. Crucial few days coming up, still optimistic.

Sportingindex are now middling the market at 870.5 (Buy 863; Sell 878).

16 matches so far, bookie’s favourite has won in 9 of them. Value in backing the underdogs in these early rounds.

Another 3/4 ‘outsiders’ winning the evening session

On there day the 3 irish lads could win , and dolan is a very tricky player for anderson to face , anderson is ideal player to fall to upset, terrible year and even in his best years was shakey in first match. i hope im wrong as anderson and durrant are the only 2 that i have a interest in bar our own lads

Lennon is likely to get a tough game. Has had a disappointing season.

O connor is the one you would expect to progress. Looked alright at the players champ last month.

Keane Barry got a very tough draw. Looks a good prospect and at 17 has nothing to lose really.

Anderson had wobbles at lakeside but ally pally has been a lot different. Hes always been there or thereabouts. Unless he does a 'Barney' on it he should progress.

anderson has had a few huge scares in his early round games over the years , and that when he was playing well
he had match darts again him one of the years he won it

his year hasnt been a million times better than barneys , hes defending a few pound also so is under pressure

Dolan also has a good record against Anderson, it's 8-8 in head to head between them. Dolan is a slow, methodical player of exactly the type Anderson hates playing and loses the head against.

If Dolan can average 95-98 he has a great chance of winning. He averaged 97 in R1.

Anderson’s heart doesn’t seem to be in it anymore.

Was looking at the path of some players.

Wade has the winner of kotslov and edhouse, then the winner of Kyle anderson and beaton, after that if he wins has darius/hopp/clemens or Benito,

should he woin those 3 easier game, he would meet MVG in the last 8, and his record against MVG is as good as anyones,

Expect MVG to win easily, but were wade to turn him over, he would be in the semis.

Aspinall plays Baggish and should win with ease to set up a match with Ratajski/Zoran, and if he comes through that would play the winner of the Gando/Dolan/West section. so is in with a good shout

Think Aspinal will do well again this year.

I’ve been impressed with him this year, proved last year wasn’t a flash in the pan

And Dolans style (throwing not shirts) will drive Anderson cracked :)

If Dolan beats Anderson I’ll run around Eyre Square wearing nothing but a hideous Hawaiian floral shirt :)

It has ruined a great first set for me.

    Great darts by Lennon.

Rydz has really settled down, fairly fast throwing at the trebles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,921 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Pressure telling on them both now

    Nicely timed 180

Final game decider, Rydz with the darts and a 140 to start

Disappointing, finishing could have been better, no excuse

Lennon did well to get it to a decider then blew it.

    Three more chances.

Lennon played better than I expected. Bit unlucky not to win. Rydz looks a decent player.

    Good game.

I think Barry's darts land too flat in the board for such a fast player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,982 ✭✭✭Degag

The camera work has been fairly shoddy on a few occasions so far i've noticed.

We've seen it in a few tournaments this year but generally not on Sky from what i remember....

They go in in some strange angles alright. And some velocity!
