I'm in the market to upgrade my computer (processor/mobo/ram) and looking for advice on Ryzen as I'm not very familiar with an AMD builds.

Looking at the Ryzen 7 2700x, which is going quiet cheap at the moment. Would their be a very notable difference between that and the newer 3XXX series? Saving a lot by choosing the 2700x and might not miss out on too much performance? Or should I go for newest chip all together?

In terms of a motherboard and RAM. I've no idea what I should be looking for. I know I want an ATX board and 32 GB of ram.
Read some stuff about boards needing BIOS to be compatible or something and higher ram speed, the better?
Would appreciate help in this department from someone who knows what they are talking about!

The parts I already have and that can be salvaged from my current PC are:
    NZXT case
    Evga SuperNova 750G2
    MSi 980Ti
    NZXT kraken X40 AIO

Will also be getting some Samsung SSD's and doing a new install of windows 10

    Thanks for the help! :)

Ryzen 5-3600 is a better gaming CPU than 2700X.
It also produces less heat during load, and additionally its memory controller is better than the 2700X's.

32Gb is overkill IMHO - 2x8Gb fast (3200-3733) is good enough still.
    The Kraken X40 would be end-of-life - it's past its 6yr warranty & doesn't support AM4 natively.

For SSD consider the Intel 660p series - for NVMe they're half the price of Samsung & perfect for gaming.

Only got around to building this machine today. Runs great, thank you!

I did pick up the 512gb intel 660p and a 250gb Samsung 970 Evo Plus (as a boot drive), but after installing windows to the Samsung, the computer isn't showing me the option to use the Intel drive at all (it appears in task manager under performance)

    Did I do something wrong?

Edit: fixed the issue! Went in to the partition settings and formatted it. Appearing now!
