If it's a 1 litre petrol the first service isn't due for 2 years.

I think it depends on the supplying dealer. They can be set to 15k 12 month or 30k 24 months from the factory. Most dealers set to 12 months.

Strange that you say that, the 1 litre I had was set to 15,000 1 yr, friend had an identical car delivered a few months later that was set to 30,000 2 years.

Yeah,a lot of high volume dealers will do the 30k intervals to keep you at bay a little while to keep ques down and stuff, where the smaller outfits will want to see you back after 12 months. The customer can request either, or, if they have their homework done.

There is no 30k 24 months service interval on any Vw (Bar Electric ones)

    It’s either 12 months/15000 or sometimes 12 months/30000kms for fleet.

Can you not see the irony in your attitude OP?

You are moaning about the loss you'll incur at trade in time due to the 192 instead of a 201, probably a couple of thousand. But yet you will go ahead with buying brand new cars every three years which makes as much financial sense as pissing all your tens of thousands up against a wall.

Penny wise, pound foolish is a term that comes to mind.

I never would but If i were to buy a new car, the only way to make it worth while is to keep it for many years until it is driven into the ground and thoroughly worn out. This craic of fellas thinking they are geniuses by trying to perfect the art of when to trade in is only a case of fellas codding themselves that they are smart. They are still absolutely hemorrhaging money into the fangs of the vampire car dealships.
They must be getting them thousands very handy if they part with them with such ease!

Thank you for your insightful and informative post. It would probably be best for everyone to stop haemorrhaging money and everyone should buy second hand. In fact they should probably ban the sale of new cars all together on account of it being so stupid. Second hand only is the way the go.

Those are the fixed service intervals. 30k kms/ 24 months is a variable interval, it's very common.

It's a good job you're out buying new cars so there's second hand ones on the market for himself in a few years time.

You have a fairly silly attitude to be fair. Just because you are happy to buy a new car and the costs that go along with it doesn’t mean you should be happy to just throw money away needlessly in the process which is what you are suggesting.

Saying it’s penny wise pound foolish is a fairly uninformed opinion considering there could be a few thousand in the difference in depreciation due to making a bad all on a reg date.

There was on this car, it's 172 and just been serviced with 24,000km on the clock with 1 day to service showing on the display.
