I've had a look at a few of the threads here but I figured it would be more efficient to ask my own direct questions in a separate thread. Apologies if these have been addressed elsewhere, if you can point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated.

I am close to finishing a first draft of a non-fiction manuscript. I'm going to go over it myself when I'm finished and make whatever edits I feel are necessary. I'm going to give it to a few trusted friends to read and to get feedback from them and possibly make more edits on that basis. What would be the next step after that?

Would I try to find a publisher who publishes in the genre I've written in, follow their submission guidelines, and then submit, or are there other intermediary steps to be taken before that?

Any advice or suggestions are greatly valued.
