Unusual Convoy pased me earlier today on Dorset St heading North. Two Garda motorcyclists escorting a private ambulance accompanied by an Italian Carabinieri Motorcyclist in full uniform on a Blue BMW RT (?) all with full Blue's & Two's in use.

Stylish looking setup it has to be said :)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.

Not that I could see,it appeared to be a standard Police Spec BMW. I have seen Caribinieri in uniform at the Italian embassy, but the Bike and Rider is new to me :)

Can only be Rodge Byrne of First Bike on Scene (First-aid training) on his film star RT. He's a paramedic. On duty for the marathon maybe.

Is it a full dress Italian Police spec machine ?

Full dress yes but not official police spec. Built for use in a few films incl. one (or two?)of the DaVinci Code sequels. So it only needed to look the part - and it certainly does! Now the rider needs the mirrored aviators and knee-high boots to complete the look.

That looks about the story for sure...

Full marks to Garda Connaughton and those who responded.

I reckon the Mater was the destination alright.

Wow, that's a fortunate outcome. Maybe it's one of the better venues to have a heart attack.
(Expected to see photo of RT a tutti veloce - disappointed now.)

Pity they won't get a finishers medal though.
