Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gearbox for 2004 Nissan Almera

    Hi,

I have a 2004 Nissan Almera and I'm pretty sure the gearbox is ready to implode over the next couple of weeks. It started making whiney and chattery noises about 4 months ago. I checked the oil through the speedometer hole and it is well above the full mark. I did this a few years ago knowing of the issue of these boxes where the offical full mark is actually too low and starves the bearings of oil.

Well it has gotten steadily worse recently and the noise has gotten much worse. It is very difficult to get it into and out of reverse. I fear that one of these days the whole thing will just implode and fly to shreds all of a sudden.

Does anyone know where I might get a scrap gearbox for this in the Cork city area? How much is it likely to cost? How much would a backstreet mechanic charge to replace it? I'd not bother doing the clutch as the one in it was changed only 2 years ago.
