Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Job interview but GNIB issue

    Hi,

I have a job interview scheduled in on the 4th November, but my IRP card expires before that.

My appointment for renewing my GNIB is on the 11th November. The employer in email has asked to see my passport and proof of residence.

I am thinking whether I could still go to the interview and just inform the employer of my situation. Or should I just give up on going to the interview, as I don't have a valid IRP card that time. I'm afraid the employer would just reject me straightly, or worse call immigration officers.

Any advise from people with similar experience would be nice.

Thank you for your time in reading this post.

Take it easy and go to the interview. Don't lie either. Your prospective employer is not going to call immigration officers, it would be hilarious if they try though -- "Your call is important to us. You position in the queue is 2500. Please stay on the line, the immigration officer will be able to speak to you in approximately 1 month, 2 weeks and 15 days.....".

I had a similar situation -- my GNIB card was expired, but the nearest appointment was some weeks later. I called them and they told me not to worry and come when appointed. Sure, if some immigration officer really does not like you, they may make it a problem, but that is unlikely.

Permits expire and have to be renewed, it's a fact of life, just tell your potential employer that you are in the processing of renewing it. It should not be a problem so long as you have the appropriate permit to seek work and there is not reason why it would not be renewed.
