    Hi Brid1,

Thanks for getting in touch with us here today.

There is no limit to the amount you can save in a Goal Saver account. However a variable rate will be applied up to a threshold of €15,000. Any savings over €15,000 will receive a lower variable rate. The interest will be paid on the anniversary of the account.

The minimum direct debit if €20 per month and the maximum is €2,000.

For more information on this please see here.

However if you would like to discuss this with one of our Savings Specialists please feel free to call our Savings Team on 0818 200 347.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks Jen

    Thank you for your response.

I would like to open the savings account and initially transfer a lump sum. Am I correct in saying the the Goal Saver account does not allow lump sum deposits?

I have also been reading about the Mortgage saver account which does allow for lump sums. Do these lump sums have to be lodged in branch or can they be transferred online?

Also, while unsure if I would be getting a mortgage with BOI, can this account be used similar to a regular savings account?

    Thanks.

    Hi Brid1,

Thanks for coming back to us here, it's nice to hear from you.

The Goalsaver account is credited by one direct debit per month only, it doesn't accept lump sum lodgements. However you can amend the direct debit amount easily via 365 Online so you can change it month by month if you'd like.

The Mortgage Saver account can absolutely accept lump sum lodgements. These would be made in your nearest branch with photo ID. You can certainly use the Mortgage Saver as a regular savings account, there is no requirement to use BOI as your mortgage provider however we do offer a bonus for first time buyers using the Mortgage Saver account. I've included a link below to the exclusive offer in case you're interested.

I hope this information helps and please let us know if you have any further queries.

    Many thanks,
    Kat
