Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have a 11 qasqhai that on dip highlights the coverage is shocking. Literally see not far at all ahead of you at night with no street lights. I say no more than 20 feet ahead.

Car passes nct without an issue. Used the adjustable dial but doesn’t make much difference.

    Any suggestions what to do?

You should get about 80 to 90 ft of distance on most cars. You could bring it into a garage and have them checked and tell them the issue your having. Normally around €30 or that.

Some cars just have shocking bad lights, my old audi a4 being one. I live in the city but it was honestly terrifying the odd time I'd be in countryside at night.

Best thing you can do is get a set of osram night breakers or similar and that'll probably be the best you'll achieve. Obviously make sure the lights are clean and haze free.

I had the almera 2 and the were bad. Although they passed nct every time. Don't think it's the bulbs themselves. They have a shiny metal cup in the headlamp that the bulb reflects off before the light leaves the headlamp. It goes dull/corrodes after a while and the light goes dim.
Tried cleaning them but it's like trying to clean the bottom of a coke can through a 2cm hole.
Lookup nissan dim headlight. Seems to be across the board not just a select few.

Is the actual light output good but they're just too low?

The output is fine. It’s like they just point down to low.

Do they respond to the levelling wheel, get even lower when you move it?

The NCT (in my experience anyway) only ever get upset if the lights are shining too high or don't work at all.

Get the lights aligned properly in a garage and then see if that makes a change.

id say check with some garage to make sure alligemnt is correct, but also car being old not sure how hard its to replace front bulbs but if anything to go by modern cards whrere your knuckles are bleeding without taking half the front apart could be issue with them not sitting well to check out, and maybe get better bulbs that have wider coverage, as most opt for cheapest usually, so no harm in getting replacement. as youd imagine car being tall of the road would point further now lower.
