Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

One other piece of business from Free Practice, Perez missed the weigh bridge during FP2 and will start the race from the pitlane.

That's a sh!tty penalty to get. A fine would have been better and is less costly. That shouldn't the type of penalty for when parc ferme hasn't begun.

Yeah, it seems overly severe but I suppose it's a black and white infringement. Gasly had the same penalty in Baku I think

How did the track get so bumpy? It's like a Formula E surface with cars bouncing all over the place.

They built it on land that is subsiding.

I know it's not representative and all but goddammit how great is it to see a Mclaren fastest in any session

  • Registered Users Posts: 890 ✭✭✭seamusk84

Alpha have really tailed off in the final third of the season. Both out in Q1. Are they just 100% focused on next year now?

Great from Norris. Be cool to see them trouble the front three rows in Q3 if possible....

Thought that was a pretty dull Q3

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Looked like the track wasn't improving at the end, Bottas first run enough for pole. Still, exciting enough session

Going to be a great start to the race. Hamilton back in 5th!

Good to see Vettel up on the front row, happy about that.

Hamilton not in the first 2 rows and 3 different teams in the top 3 I’ll classify as an interesting session.

Good mix for the start .. McLaren did look good this weekend . Thought actually Redbull were in with a real shout .

Lots of little mistakes form each driver on the bumpy surface . More of that sort of thing

Either way all the talk tomorrow will be about Hamilton winning the title

Top 5 separated by 3 tenths and no clue who was going to snatch pole until it was over, that qualifies as dull now?

With Max in front of him him and trying to pass Bottas while looking in his mirror.

    Should be good alright. :)

Would be good if Bottas could keep the championship alive for another race.
Depending on Hamilton getting punted out at the start I'd imagine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Bottas walks it and Hamilton gets punted off at turn one? A reasonable chance that happens!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,318 ✭✭✭✭AMKC
    Ms

I watched the highlights this morning and thought it was a very enjoyable session with a good mix up front. Now all we need is for Bottas to win it and Hamiltons car to stop working or he gets punted at some stage off just to keep the season alive a bit longer and to keep some interest in it.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Bottas is not dependable in that respect. He is more likely to win coming from further down the grid. Today, I would expect him to make a mistake early on and get passed. Anybody could get punted off at that first corner. It's barely wide enough for two abreast.

My prediction is vettel win. And Hamilton spinning off before end of lap one.

    I'll go LeClerc/Vettel 1/2.

Stroll holding checo up even though he has made up 5 places to get in behind him. What are the chance of team orders there I wonder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Will that stop people from going wide there now?

Yet again...that suspension was broken already at the start of the race. The car just wouldn't turn. You'd imagine they'd pick the issue up in the post-qualifying inspection.

No, gap is too big. 26 seconds behind him

This hasn't exactly been a thriller so far. It's all been very pedestrian, everyone managing tyres

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭BDI

I think Perez can get well in the points after starting at the back.

    Hasn’t even been mentioned.

If he was tall and blonde they’d be going wild in commentary.
