If you are the holder of an EU licence e.g. Cyprus or Malta would you be paying a higher Insurance premium than on an Irish licence?

    In most cases - YES

A friend switched from an EU to an Irish licence but didn't really see much, if any, reductions.
Can't make it worse though so still worth doing I suppose.

If you get two different quotes based on your licence origin you should continue to search for a better quote. IE/EU licence never made a difference when it came to the cheapest quote in my case.

If the insurer offers discounts for no penalty points, they generally don't offer those discounts to people with EU licenses.

From previous years experience seeking quotes, they were generally the most expensive even wth discount applied so probably doesn't matter overall.
