Basement cinema is not that block.

Mixed office/retail development, some of the renders had an Apple logo on the corner unit which would be quite daring to use without permission but could still easily be a fake

The two-screen cinema (72 seats and 51 seats) is going in the basement of The Ivy restaurant.

Enjoy while it lasts, new building will be quite a bit taller than the one before!

Nearly sure I heard on the news this morning on the radio that PP was just rejected by DCC/ABP for this.

It was granted and appealed - by IMC. Don't think the appeal would be through yet.

Do we really need two more small screen cinemas. There's at least two within a very short distance of the Ivy?

And do the Ivy make any money from those other small cinemas?
It's a bit like saying what's the point of the Ivy, sure there's loads of restaurants on Nassau St. already.

Really? Only cinema I'm aware of on the south side of city centre is IFI.
Northside has cineworld, lighthouse and savoy and I think one down by the point.

I think it relates to small private cinemas. Like the one in Brooks Hotel. https://www.brookshotel.ie/Private_Cinema.html

They are a private business and will invest as they see fit. If there wasnt a need or a market they wouldnt be trying to build one

im more interested in the external facade of the building which im.sorry to say looks very ordinary. pity they didnt do something architecturally innovative or interesting.

Have to agree. Also noted that the architects of the Nassau Street development are Henry J Lyons who seem to get a lot of large scale projects around the city but produce buildings that are mainly a bit underwhelming. Probably more to do with the budgets allocated to them by property developers who arent bothered with leaving any kind of legacy.
