    Hi all,

Off to Dublin tomorrow for a gig in the Olympia on my lonesome :) and I'm not familiar with Dublin

Should be hitting Dublin about 4 30, before the gig starts at 8pm.

Any recommendations for Pubs near the Olympia to head to and have a few pints ?

    Thanks in advance

You're spoilt for choice. My fav is Darkey Kelly's just around the corner on Fishamble Street.

I think Brogans is the closest, gets very busy coming close to gig time.

The Foggy Dew isn't far away on Dame Street.

Porterhouse Temple Bar on Parliament Street if you want to try out some different beers.

Underdog, downstairs on the left of the entrance to the Olympia. Nice little spot and 30 seconds to the entrance!

There's figuratively millions to choose from. Brogan's is right next door. The Foggy is just up the road at the Central Bank. Stags Head and Dame Tavern just behind the Mercantile. O'Neills is comfy and do a decent pint. That's just a sample within 100m.

If you fancy a quiet drink, the Library Bar at the Central Hotel is about 5 minutes away on foot. Through the front door, up the main stairs to the 1st floor, then left.

Be prepared to pay over 6 quid a pint mate.

O'Neills on Suffolk Street is also a good place to get some grub.

Porterhouse Temple Bar also does food, and are supposed to have a 'Beer of the Day' for €4.50.

Very much depends on where you go, the Lord Edward at Christchurch is a fiver, underdog has cask for a fiver, if you head to the Nassau st porterhouse there's a pint and bottle of the day for 4.50, but yeah if you head into a touristy place in temple bar or darky Kelly's you're going to pay the price.

Is peader kearneys still cheap drinks before 7?

Foggy Dew for sure, Wally. Great spot pre-gig. Right beside Central Bank.

    Enjoy MH!

The secret got out ..not so quiet anymore. :( If you are in earlier in the evening it might be quiet.

We should draw up a list of quiet pubs in Dublin city center.

You'll most likely find fellow fans in Bruxelles, maybe even the band for a post gig drink.

Oh its a Machine H gig, then its The Mezz, The Foggy or Brux unless you're staying over on the northside then its Fibbers.

All that said, since Slim left The Mezz its been 50/50 but its just around the corner from your gig so worth checking out.
