Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Attic conversion and stairs placement

    I’m hoping to convert an attic in a semi D, from the attached picture is it possible to have stairs to the attic installed without moving the bathroom door back level with the bath ?

    Probability in a semi D it is a pre-fab truss roof. You WILL need an Engineer before you go too far. Could end up costing bucket loads of €€€€€€

    As above fire regs need to be looked at/costed too..

    Yeah it’s a prefab truss roof, it has potential to be a good sized room height and floor space wise. I’d be happy to put up to 20k into turning in into a regulated bedroom.

    Double check that you can actually achieve the requirements for a bedroom while also achieving the requirement ma for a 3 storey dwelling.

    20k is a good budget for an attic conversion but but most conversions are not official bedrooms so additional funds may be required.

    Then check the latest 2017 edition of TGD Part B Fire Safety Volume 2.
