#UnitedIreland trending on Twitter. Though if tonight has told us anything it's how irrelevant Twitter is even in 2019.

I'm sure you knwo this, but be aware that Labour nearly always go into an early lead as the quick-returning constituencies are north east (although their red wall seems to have broken).
But don't get lulled by Labour winning a few seats, the underlying %s/swings are more important.
Sure, but polls are only views, are actual ticks on paper is what matters. There's so much hype, media bias and web chatter before any counting has begun.

Only have the 50/1 as a very small novelty, as part of a multi-line (safe) 4 from 5 acca.

Edit: 50/1 NoMaj back down to 33/1, volatile market.

For all the laughing and joking about Johnson being a numpty and a buffoon, he is going to give the Tories a famous victory tonight (assuming exit polls are accurate).

So say all you want, he appealed to the UK public a lot more than Corbyn, and that's democracy.

It might be painful for Ireland, but it will be good to get this Brexit thing sorted out at last.

Further, we can see now how irrelevant it was for Johnson to participate in a Neil Interview.

On here, you'd believe it was the end of the world.

In the real world, ordinary folk going about their business, or in coastal fishing communities, don't care about that. They want to see their Brexit result implemented.

Again, I was the lone voice who was drowned out with abuse. I ended up being right.

You've no idea how satisfying this night is.

Nobody said it would have a material effect. Everyone pretty much agreed it was in his interest to not do it. It would have hurt him not helped him.

Pretty much everyone said it was morally wrong to avoid doing it but you seem to write your own version of history here. You seem more content sticking the knife into Labour supporters than enjoying your victory.

Object all you like but we've had decades of the likes of yourself and others calling ireland a kip off to find work in the green green pastures.

I can call it what I like frankly. Dish it out but can't take it. Someone else already called Ireland a kip a few pages ago.

The UK has people dying in beds being asked to come in for proof of disability on social security. They have a larger homeless problem than here and mother's going without food so they can have their kids eat sandwiches.

    Kip

I didnt call any place a kip...you did
    I left to get work

There is no point ...I can pull lots of poor stats about Ireland if I choose ..but only ridiculous arguments from you
You seem to have a poker up your ass and need to give yourself some credence over comparisons

Conservative vote only up 2% on those two votes but Labour down 13% it's just going to the Brexit party. Will they play a bit of a part I wonder

labour returned in Sunderland south with a very reduced majority which seems to have gone to the brexit vote.

Tories and Brexit party outpolled Labour in Sunderland South.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,402 ✭✭✭✭Sardonicat

    Sunderland: Labour

They must be raging in Sunderland count centre that they just got pipped by Newcastle to be the first to call

Lab Hold in Sunderland. Quite a drop in the share of the vote with -18.7% for Labour.

RTÉ are behind with their results. They are showing the speech from Newcastle Central.

The Brexit Party may not win any seats but they are picking up a decent %

    Blyth Valley Tory win.

Well Blyth goes Tories. The exit poll isn't wrong

Just woke up a while ago. Wasn't expecting that headline but pretty nonplussed about the result. DUP being irrelevant is good. The result shows a second referendum would have been a huge Leave win. Corbyn should be finally gone, and the idea of putting hated characters like Hillary or Jeremy against populists might finally die.

Just a pity the government won't be held by things like the Benn Act. It really is a game changer in that regard.

Labour lose a seat that has never been anything other than labour.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,033 ✭✭✭✭Richard Hillman

Essentially what happened was when the polls went to Conservative, Labour and Brexit Party all on around the mid 20% region, the 20% of the potential brexit voters were made up of UKIP, Labour and Conservative equally. But when the Brexit Party vote disappeared they all went to Conservative. People thought that Brexit would kill the Conservative vote, it was Labour. Added to that, the Greens and Lib Dems too away from them too.

One of the referendum sides stuck together, the others were divided.

Nope, he inherited that. He has a majority and a clean slate to do whatever he wants. Will be interesting to see what the EU does. They don't have the security blanket of parliament to stop a no deal exit.

He went and got a deal and they "re-opened the WA" apparently. Remember he kept going on about it? No? He has a deal. Now they can leave the EU finally and let the rest of us move on. Finally.
