ELP blaming SF for her loss. Jesus they're brutal.

Demography and the "Pan-nationalist Front" to blame for the DUP to not win Belfast North according to Foster.

    She's a disgrace.

Revised exit poll forecasts are ticking down the Tory majority a little. Majority looks like being 70-80

ITV has an Exit poll plus provisional result displayed for the past while with ongoing changes made throughout the night. There is not much change made to it. It has only reduced the tory by a couple of seats. These updated results are taken into account after the last few voters have cast their ballot in their polling stations before the polls officially closed at 10pm. The exit poll unveiled at 10pm does not take into account of all voters thoughts when the results of the poll are published by 3 of the main broadcasters.

Nigel Dodds has lost his seat tonight although it's not confirmed yet according to the DUP.

Labour holding Canterbury in the context of everything else going on is fully bizarre

No declaration from Swinson's seat yet - turnout was over 80%.

But the SNP are are on roll with 12 seats so far - they've taken Midlothian from Labour and increased their majority on all the seats they've held - Mhari Black in particular had a stonkingly good result.

We're seeing a full blown Americanisation of UK politics.

Urban v rural, leave v remain, a clash of competing identities.

Canterbury is the equivalent of Austin, Texas.

Noticed the turnout is equalising now, around 66/67% closer to normal.

    Happy Friday the 13th!

Agreed, its also another warning to Democrats that if you move too far to the left and engage in identity politics, it ain't going to end well.

SF hold Belfast West and West Tyrone.

Elsewhere someone said this could be the first time that Unionists don't hold the majority of NI seats and a dearth fo Belfast seats

    North Belfast soon ...

The guy from momentum on the BBC basically saying it's the electorate who are wrong as he attempts to defend the loosing seats Labour have held for 80 years

Nigel Dodds has lost his seat by nearly 2k votes in Belfast North.

John Finucane got elected with 23,078

    Nigel Dodds had 21,135

An AP candidate got over 4k votes.

Chuka Umunna has just lost his seat in City of London & Westminster.

Slight correction - he never held that seat. He was parachuted in there as he was unpopular in his own seat having defected front Labour. He promptly split the progressive vote and handed what was previously a competitive Lab/Con seat to the conservatives.

George Osborne going to town on DUP with their spectacular own goal
and not understanding why they didn't vote on Teresa May deal as much better than what they will end up with

Majority nationalist rep from Northern Ireland now for the first time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,218 ✭✭✭✭Bannasidhe

SNP just took Renfrewshire East from the Tories.

I think that's 5 seats they've taken. They have won all 17 seats declared so far.

    No sign of Swinson's yet

Whist - she just turned up at the count centre.....

    Graph of % so far.
In every region the Labour fall is bigger than the Tory gain.

Chuka Umunna has just lost his seat in City of London & Westminster.

Lab + LD outnumber the Tory by 7600.

One of the most remain constituencies continues to have a pro Brexit Tory MP
