Easy win for Boris in his constit tbf. I expected him to win but thought it might be a little closer,,,similar to the 3k win for Raab.

    Close but Swinson is out!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,980 ✭✭✭Lucy8080

Jeez ,that was a close one. Swinson might have kept that seat if she spent more time in her own constituency.

Swinson lost by 149 votes to Amy Callaghan of the SNP.

Ouch. That is very bad for Swinson to lose that seat.

The Lib Dems now have a job on their hands in electing a new leader.

Got an e-mail last night from Lib Dems to come and do some phone polling as seats could be lost by a couple of 100 votes

    How true

Tony Blair's old seat has gone to the Tories.

And other places I know well from my time living in Sheffield gone blue. They are some of the poorest places I have ever seen in my life. I'd have always considered myself quite a right-wing person but living in the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire for five years, and seeing what Tory rule has done to these places, made it clear to me just how unequal the UK is and made me much more centrist.

I really worry for places like this, they've been devastated by the Tories and yet they've voted for the Tories in record numbers. I just can't understand it.

I shudder to think what places like Scunthorpe and Doncaster will be like by the time the Tories have been in there for another five years.

Not surprised at that - it was insulting campaign to run revoking the referendum result. Hearing Boris Johnson talk about moving the country forward seems a bit hollow as he's fracturing the UK.

DUP lost another seat:D:D:D, this time to the SDLP in South Belfast!

Swinson forced an election to win a few extra seats from Labour; ran a terrible campaign that exposed her as a vacant political opportunist; then lost her seat in a sickening manner. What an absolute shambles. Bye!

The guy from momentum on the BBC basically saying it's the electorate who are wrong as he attempts to defend the loosing seats Labour have held for 80 years
Electorates have been wrong many times.

I don't know why it's so taboo to say that.

    The electorate elected Hitler.

I'm not comparing Johnson to Hitler, but he uses many of the same techniques to get people to vote for him.

The spectre of right-wing nationalism in England now is horrifying.

    It's wrong.

Quite interesting that two of the recent House Of Commons team leaders - Jo Swinson and Nigel Dodds - have each lost their seats. Their views on Brexit were so contrasting.

I just can't get my head around these results, how can so many be so fooled by the tories.

Take my home town constituency back in Wales, Aberconwy.

In 2017 Tory Guto Bebb beat Labours Emily Owen by 600 votes.

In this election the snake Bebb has stepped down, his replacement Robin Millar, WHO DOESN'T EVEN FCUKIN LIVE IN WALES, has just beaten Emily by over 2000

    The mind boggles

    The media won this election

Bigger question is what is so wrong with Labour that an electorate who have been **** on for about 10 years by the Tories would welcome them in with open arms.

Can they all hate their leader that much? If it was just that then they would have voted for the Lib Dems.

I think a lot of them just want Brexit done and if its a Tory to do it, then he got the votes.
