I think Boris has a paid clapper in the crowd somewhere

Compared to other debates, Johnson is more "Prime Ministerial", offers evidence and fact as opposed to rhetoric, and challenges Corbyn on his weaknesses.

    Johnson is doing well.

I wouldn't say that. He has offered soundbites aplenty, but has dodged going in depth with all his answers.

Recording this for later and only seen the last ten minutes but from what I've seen Corbyn's answers lacking a punch. That retort about your party didn't support the NHS was weak. That was over 70 years ago. Plenty to hammer the Tories with currently on the health service.

Did Johnson outline where this 150 billion resulting from his deal will come from?

How can Boris speak so freely about economic recklessness of the labour party when the conservatives are driving a Brexit bus off a cliff.

    It's mind boggling.

All Corbyn offers is soundbites about poor people.

    Corbyn is a populist.

There is a very enthusiastic lad near the front. Still Jeremy seems to be winning the applause battle.

You make my brain itch. How do you continue this nonsense?

    Corbyn is a populist.

referring to bermuda triangles - repeating mantras of getting brexit done

honestly Eskimohunt, can you even pretend to be willing to highlight the ineptitude of Johnson at times

You admitted last night that he is WRONG not to be interviewed by Andrew Neil

can you not admit that the comments on nurse numbers - coupled with Northern Ireland - are really not good

Sic semper tyrannis - thus always to Tyrants

So Brexit discord is contributing to Islamophobia.. I think

You'd swear Johnson had Tourettes such is the amount of times he repeated his stupid little cliche.

Goebbels said the key to propaganda was repetition of short slogans - even he might have blushed at the amount of repetition by Johnson.

    What soundbites?
    Corbyn is a populist.

To some degree or another all politicians are. In general, though, he hasn't taken positions that have been all that popular with the public.

    Boris caught out not listening

    And we're back to Brexit

He seems to be "passionate about" a lot of things. Reminds me of a candidate on The Aporentice

Annoying that the host allowed Johnson to ignore using racist terms previously. Always seems to come back and make Corbyn answer points Johnson makes.

He's done that a few times alright.

Their is literally nothing Boris can't turn back to Brexit.

Robinson has done fine all night but he needed to push Boris more on Islamphobia.

My own view - i find it laughable that some describe JC as using soundbites - when Bojo literally just rants off the same nonsense

    Dominic Cummins would be proud

JC by a nose - voting on the poll now

    Johnson won the debate

Corbyn talked about "equality" and "fairness", the socialist angel etc. - Johnson talked about the political reality and comes across as more Prime Ministerial.

Overwhelming support for Johnson at the end of the debate.

Johnson has the IQ of a peanut, he's just been programmed by Cummings to drone on about Brexit. They could have easily trained a monkey to do a similar job. I wonder how conservatives feel about their party being 100% run by a non tory who hates most of them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,423 ✭✭✭✭lawred2

    That was grim.

Corbyn is just not capable of landing any sort of hit on Boris.

    And Boris is a joke.

Corbyn was the only one who came across as a human being rather than a robot.

Again, Corbyn was well ahead on content, that's hardly a surprise given the Tory campaign is literally a cliche designed by a focus group.

But he doesn't deliver the punchy lines you need in this sort of debate. He's not a soundbyte politician and in the modern age you need to be.

Not exactly any killer blow either way. Why why why didnt corbyn talk about andrew neil?

Corbyn was a bit stronger overall but only because johnson bores the pants off me with his sloganeering, did seem audience was getting a bit cheesed off with him towards the end. Made a joke of the trust question, very classy that!

Instant polling with YouGov (with Sky News) shows that Boris Johnson won by 52% and Corbyn 48%.

It's not just me. It's the UK electorate.

    We won - again.

The fact that Corbyn loses the polls, and doesn't hit a major blow a week before an election when he is already 10-12 points behind, shows that Corbyn has just signed his political death warrant.

Nothing to move the needle there. Boris is hopeless and a habitual liar but Corbyn is too polite for shouting matches and was talked over and interrupted too often while he stood back and let Johnson speak.

I wish Robinson’s role was “well you say X, but the actual facts are Y”, rather than just giving lies equal weight to facts and passing them to the other to reply.

I can't believe the UK is in such dire straits that Boris Johnson is on a PMs debate. It is mind blowing to think this utterly incompetent, ignorant slob is the best the Conservatives have. The UK is truly fcuked if that is the guy who will be leading them and part of me finds it hilarious to watch the Brits self harm like this.

If you were ranking them, it would be Johnson 3/10 and Corbyn 2/10.

Johnson claimed the safety of female MP was very important to him but a few months ago in parliament he dismissed those concerns raised by a female MP as humbug. Corbyn should have nailed him on that.
