Owner of a Lonely Heart just because Star Trekkin' is nonce central.

The Final Countdown because it was played about 6 times in Dalymount's bars one night last month as Bohs qualified for Europe and we all got messy. Europe, get it?

    Match 11

Star Trekkin', just because I hate the other song so much.

    Match 12

Don't Fear the Reaper. Great tune instantly recognisable from the first note of the intro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,480 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Star Trekkin - it's different. Yes are good, but nothing unique

The Final Countdown - really tough one, but this is more iconic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,422 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

BOC and the Firm keep trekkin.

Some people just want to watch the world burn. I love Star Trek, obviously, but that's a terrible terrible song and should not have even made it into round 2, and now it's advancing again?

    R 2 Match 13

Big Mountain - Baby I love Your Way

    Vs

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight

    R 2 Match 14

Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me

    Vs

    Crazytown - Butterfly

Save Tonight - it's an iconic song, it has to go through.

Butterfly - both great songs, but Butterfly was one of my own nominations, so I'm backing it 100%

    R 2 Match 13

Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight (just like it better, and used to listen it, playing GTA)

    R 2 Match 14

    Crazytown - Butterfly (tis trippy)

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

Save Tonight, a classic and I'd say a contender to win.

Kiss Me, it's just a better song than Butterfly.

    Save Tonight
    Kiss Me

    Better songs IMO

Ditto, though I do like Kiss Me as well, so won't be too sad if it goes through.

    Save Tonight

    Kiss Me ,

    Two good songs tbf !

Save Tonight, because the big mountain song is only a cover version.

And crazy town, because although it's a sample, it's a great use of the RHCP riff.

    Save Tonight, cracking song

Kiss Me, better of the two, those crazy christians

Save Tonight. Ahh, the memories that go with that song.

Butterfly. This gets my vote as I wouldn't be a fan of Kiss Me.

    R 2 Match 15

Glorious - Andreas Johnson (seems less bad than the other one)

    R 2 Match 16

    4 Non-Blondes - What's Up (better song)

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

#15 - Voting for Glorious, as it's a more memorable song for me and the one I'd be more likely to put on a playlist for repeated listens. Broken isn't a bad tune by any means though.

#16 - Bit of an odd one here, I was going for What's Up (which I have mixed feelings about) because I didn't think I liked Would I Lie To You...then I realised I was actually thinking of the Eurythmics song. :o I actually quite like the Charles and Eddy one, and it's easier on the ear than What's Up.

So tl;dr: I'm voting for Would I Lie To You

    R 2 Match 15
    Seether - broken
    Vs
Glorious - Andreas Johnson - My vote - I had a quick play and I recognized it. I like it now that I remember it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Glorious - easily one of the best songs left in the competition, so its an easy choice (even though I love Broken and up against most other songs, it would probably be my pick, so unfortunate its facing off against Glorious)

Would I Lie To You? - this was a really tough one. Both these songs are amazing and would be happy to see either of them advance to the next round, and I keep changing my mind every couple of seconds, but I think Would I Lie To You has a slight edge.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

    What's Up. Better song.

Glorious is classic drunken singalong cheese

What's Up for me, but that is a really close call

Broken - Man I love that song :pac:

Voting for Would I Lie To You as Homer put some thought into that vote, unlike youse What's Up voters.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,794 ✭✭✭Squall Leonhart

    Abstain on the first.

Would I lie to you for the second, I nominated this one, going to see it through!
    Great song :)

I don't think there's enough alcohol in the world that would make me deluded brave enough to reach for that high note in the chorus! I'd sound more like Shane McGowan than Andreas Johnson trying to wail that "SHEEEE EEEE EEEEE EEEEE...." part.

While we wait for these to resolve, I will post the last 2 of the night. Will round up the scores in the morning.

    4 Non-Blondes - What's Up 2 Vs 4 Charles and Eddy - Would I Lie To You

Seether. Glorious' singer is whiny af.

    R 2 Match 17

The Primitives – Crash (a decent song, the other one just annoys the fcuk out of me)

    R 2 Match 18

The J. Geils Band - Centerfold ( i could listen to that while drinking whiskey)

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Crash - I adore this song, it makes it on to nearly all of my playlists, and its a shame its up against Blue, because this could potentially be the end of the line for a great tune.

Centerfold - because my blood runs cold... and that Sugar Ray song is crap.

#17 - Crash - I'd vote for almost anything ahead of Blue, which I despise and which will probably prevail anyway. :( Nonetheless Crash is quite a nice track and one I was unfamiliar with before the contest, so thanks to whoever nominated it Zaph for introducing me.

#18 - Centrefold - Going for the less bad option here, although on listening to Every Morning again it's actually not quite as terrible as I thought it was (not enough to redeem it though!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,480 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

    Crash
    Centerfold

Both good songs up against terrible ones :p

R 2 Match 17 - Eiffel 65 - Blue. Get in to the next round!! You don't need to explain yourself.

R 2 Match 18 - The J. Geils Band - Centerfold. Close call as not a massive fan of either song but this one gets it as it less whiny than the other.

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

    Match 17

Crash. Great song, one of my nominations and that Blue song is one of the biggest streaming piles of sh*the ever unleashed on an unsuspecting public.

    Match 18

Centrefold. One of the best songs of the early 80s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,942 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

Crash and Centerfold also. Two good songs, the others are just pure cheese lets be honest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,034 ✭✭✭Ficheall

    17. Crash, even though parts of Blue are catchy.

    18. Centrefold, because the other thing is crap.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Centrefold, catchy as hell, and it was one of my noms.
