    Crash, because no thanks Chesney.

Beds are burning, because it's a great tune, reminds me of time spent in Australia, heard it a lot there.

(for a laugh, check out the mid 90s Jim Carrey parody of Informer called Imposter. Borne from the fact that yer man was Canadian but trying to sound Caribbean)

    Crash , it's an upbeat tune !

Beds are Burning , love that song , think I nominated it , maybe someone else did too though !

Don't think I know any of those 4 apart from Chesney Hawkes, to which I'm fairly indifferent. And I can't really listen to the other three at work without drawing awkward questions! :p So I'll impatiently wait for the next four to vote again. Will give the winners a spin before Round 2 though.

    Match 17

Crash. What a tune, Tracy Tracy's voice is just perfect for it.

    Match 18

    No opinion

I vote Crash. Good song. Chesney Hawkes? You are just an annoying little **** but you're not even the only one of those either.

    Beds are Burning. Great song.

Chesney crashes at the first round, The Primitives and Midnight Oil advance

Chesney Hawkes - You and Only 3
    Vs
    The Primitives – Crash 6

    Snow - Informer 1
    Vs
Midnight Oil - Beds Are Burning 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,896 ✭✭✭✭Spook_ie

The Primitives – Crash just a great voice

Midnight Oil - Beds Are Burning though if it were competing against anything decent it wouldn't have got my vote

    Seether- Broken, anyways.

Great song to play after a night on the tiles and aptly describes my mental state post alcohol consumption.

No opinion on the other one.

Hadn’t heard either of the first match.

Swing out sister - breakout. I love, love, love that song. Had it on replay when it was released.

I do love a bit of chas n Dave though and wish they weren’t paired together.

Don't have a clue about any of these either! I've a lot of listening to do when I get home....

    Match 19
Broken because its a f**king beautiful song and thanks to whoever was wise enough to nominate it.

    Match 20
Breakout because its decent enough and doesn't make my ears bleed like that snooker rubbish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,896 ✭✭✭✭Spook_ie

Match 19 Seether - broken Both sound like funeral dirges but the singer in Seether is better looking

Match 20 Chaz and Dave - Snooker loopy Now we're talking one hit wonders, it's a wonder it ever made the charts but as a genuine OHW it gets my vote

    Match 19
I see we're playing fast and loose with the term "hit", abstain!

    Match 20
Breakout.. Because.... Chas and Dave.. Puke

  • Registered Users, Subscribers, Registered Users 2 Posts: 47,336 ✭✭✭✭Zaph

According to Wikipedia, Chas'n'Dave had 7 UK top 20 hits, including 4 top 10s. But it's still better than Swing Out Sister.

Had never really thought about it, but you're right, he is better looking than that lad from Stone Sour. Amy Lee (singer from Evanesence who features on Broken) is more my cup of tea personally though.

It was entered as Chaz and Dave with the the Matchroom Mod, sorry I didn't notice they had so many hits.

Well it's probably the only hit Willie Thorne or Dennis Taylor ever had :D

No, that's a yes vote for the singer who apparently isn't in Seether but was an accompaniment so technical yes for Seether

Chaz n Dave was a OHW for Chaz n Dave and the Matchroom Boys, it isn't a Chaz n Dave solo entry

You won't stop talking, why don't you give it a rest
You got more rabbit than Sainsbury's, it's time you got it off ya chest

But how was I to know you'd bend my earholes too with your incessant talking
    You're becoming a pest

I vote Breakout-Swing Out Sister because Chas N' Dave song is rubbish.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,429 ✭✭✭Sheridan81

I vote Seether-Broken cause at least it has Amy Lee who is a good singer and Corey Taylor is just Fred Durst for hipsters.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

I vote Chas and Dave actually cos it is rubbish and I want to watch the world burn after OTown and Chesney Hawkes got eliminated in the first round.

The One And Only Chesney Hawkes. Gotta be a top contender for overall winner because, while it might not be the best song among the 128, it is bloody good and it's quintessential one hit wonder..

Going for Steal My Sunshine and I Try.

Respect whoever nominated Riverdance though, that wouldn't have occurred to me at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

    Match 21:
Probably the toughest decision in the competition so far. Would love to see both go through, but my vote is for...
Riverdance because how can I not vote for something so epic, even when you take the dancing out of it the tune itself is a masterpiece. Wish I had thought to nominate it, so kudos to whoever did.

    Match 22:
I Try because its a class song and I always sing along whenever I hear it.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 52,216 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Riverdance for the first one because I always liked the concept of dancing on rivers.

For the second one I fooking hate Macy Gray and that horrible gravelly voice.

I don't really like that other one either but by POE my vote is on Where Do You Go as it's less ****.

Steal my sunshine. It’s a good tune.

Where do you go because it’s more upbeat than I try

Vote: steal my sunshine and where do you go

    Len-Steal My Sunshine.
Riverdance is indulgent and I don't see the point of Irish dancing really.

    Macy Gray-I Try
It has a recognisable chorus at least. The other song is dull and the guy's hairdo is a travesty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,975 ✭✭✭✭Mam of 4

Riverdance , just because I would never have thought of it tbh . Amazing .

    Macy Gray I Try ,
Because we never give up trying :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,896 ✭✭✭✭Spook_ie

Anúna and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra - Riverdance just epic!

Peter Sarsted - Where do you go to, my lovely because if I didn't vote this one Mrs spook wouldn't be happy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,794 ✭✭✭Squall Leonhart

Steal My Sunshine, summer pop goodness

Peter Sarstedt, great one hit wonder, love it, so overblown and crap but so good :D (Dustin the Turkey covered it, as "where do you go to, you're ugly" haha)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,149 ✭✭✭Tammy!

Steal My Sunshine because it's catchy. Didn't like it when it first came out but it's grown on me over the years. I wouldn't think of Riverdance as a one hit wonder more of a performance.

Peter Sarstedt because I love the lyrics.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 16,287 Mod ✭✭✭✭quickbeam

Yeah, wouldn't have thought of Riverdance as a OHW, but it's the better of the two so I chose it. Did it even chart?

I honestly have never been able to decide if I love or hate that Peter Sarstedt song. There's something rather annoying and grating about it. And something that draws me to it as well. I'm abstaining for the moment on this contest as I've no particular love for Macy Gray either.

Vote for riverdance. best 8 minutes of buck leping about a stage you ever will see, and the music is just great and stands up on its own.

Don’t know either of the first ones, will go Seether to move things along
Swing out sister is a cracking song, gets my vote

Love the Len song, while I appreciate river dance if I turned on the radio it’s Len id like to hear

Tough choice in the last one but I’ll go for I’ll try, still think it sounds great
