It's well known that these best ever games are more about the fun in playing and the outrage we stir up in some random boardsies that stumble upon these threads, than ever believing that they will divine out convincing results.

    Sure, Best Horror Movie Ever
    The lost boys :D

    Enjoy..

You are the star attraction for this thread atm, we can only hope for more to come in and show their outrage, it's hilarious.

Pass The Dutchie and hallelujah get my votes this round. pass the dutchie had a leading role in a recent game of ww, so will remain close to the heart for another while, ah towlie, you make me laugh so much. hallelujah due to it being a good song that transcends the words used within it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

She's So High - one of my nominations and quintessential '90s.

Summer Girls - neither of these songs really jumped out at me, but Summer Girls is more bearable. However, Girl On TV is a much better LFO song if anyone wants to check out a decent one of theirs.

Spaceman because I always wanted you to go, into Spaceman, intergalactic cry. Choon!!!

I Ran (So Far Away) - another of my nominations and one of my favourite songs of all-time. Of course it'd have to be up against such a heavy hitter.

    R1 Match 49
    O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei – don’t know that one, but….
    VS
Babylon Zoo – Spaceman – Gets my vote: great song.

    R1 Match 50
A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran – Gets my vote.
    VS
Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah – It grew on me but I have made my decision!

#47 - No opinion, clever matching of the song titles though. :p

#48 - Both are awful but I'll vote for Summer Girls because at least it's self-aware and knows that it's awful!

#49 - Spaceman, great nostalgia tune and the other one just annoys me.

#50 - Flock of Seagulls, because I really don't like Jeff Buckley's overwrought, overplayed and vastly overrated cover of what was a great song.

I would be completely surprised if anything other than one of the first three die hards didn't win that, and the later rounds would just be the sequels up against the original.

    R1 Match 47

Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie

'Cause me say listen to the drummer, me say listen to the bass
Give me little music make me wind up me waist

    R1 Match 48

    Sugar Ray - Every Morning

One is piss and the other is vomit, if you were to be covered in one, i'd pick Sugar Ray

    R1 Match 49

    Babylon Zoo - Spaceman

Because it starts off like its gonna be a great song but alas it fails miserably. So its just because it was on a Levis advert.

    R1 Match 50

    A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran

Both amazing for different reasons but by the smallest of margins, flock of Seagulls get it because it ws an original composition and not a cover, Hallejuah, a great cover but a cover.

Musical Youth - Pass The Dutchie Sometimes a nice reggae beat is enough to sway me.

Sugar Ray - Every Morning The line ''shut the door baby and don' say a word'' is the absolute best for whispering along with Glucose Raymond.

O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei I despise the whiney screechy tone of Spaceman and DDT gave us that Numa Numa kid dancing.

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah It's haunting and saying that makes me feel deep and profound.

    Match 47
She's So High - Forgot about that one!

    Match 48
Every Morning - Way better than the other song

    Match 49
You bastard. That O-Zone song is infectious, it's having a cold. It'll take days to wear off. My vote is for Babylon Zoo, for it's weirdness. Remember watching it on top of the pops!

    Match 50
A flock of seagulls, I've heard covers of it I prefer more, but it's not a bad song. Whereas Jeff Buckley, yes, good song but it spawned a bazillion x-factor/american idol covers, so sick of the song!

    Sugar Ray - Every Morning

Beats the summer girls song who must have been paid by Abercrombie & Fitch.

    R1 Match 50

    A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran

Got to love 80s synth and hairstyles

Well if you really want to split hairs, in my opinion Together in Electric Dreams is as much of a piece of dirt as Breakfast at Tiffany's. But who cares, it's just a bit of fun based on opinions. If we all had the same one there'd be no point in starting the thread in the first place.

Tal Bachman - She's So High

If Cos I was High didn't deserve to go through neither does pass the dutchie, she's so high gets a protest vote

    R1 Match 48

    LFO - Summer Girls
A quick listen gives the preference to this one

    R1 Match 49

    Babylon Zoo - Spaceman

    Edges it for me

    R1 Match 50

    A Flock of Seagulls - I Ran

Couldn't vote for Hallelujah when it was in earlier so it ain't getting a vote this time either, even if it is a different artiste

    Nah gotta be

    Silent Night, Deadly Night

    EDIT

weren't only Die Hard and Die Hard 2 set at Xmas?
Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995)
Main article: Die Hard with a Vengeance
In the third film, McClane is back in New York City, separated from his wife, suspended from the police force, and a borderline alcoholic. A terrorist known only as "Simon" (Jeremy Irons) threatens to blow up various locations in the city unless McClane will play his twisted version of Simon Says, riddles and challenges.

Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson), a shopkeeper from Harlem, saves McClane after the first challenge, and reluctantly continues to help. The FBI reveal Simon is the brother of Hans Gruber, killed in the first film. McClane learns revenge is a cover story for robbing the New York Federal Reserve. McClane tracks Simon to the Canada–US border. McClane kills Simon by shooting at a power line above Simon's helicopter.

It was released on May 19, 1995 to mixed reviews and grossed $366.1 million worldwide.

Safety Dance - because we can dance if we want to, and I want to.

Butterfly - the last of my nominees and a class song. First Time is great too, but gotta go with my own nomination on this one.

Maniac - absolute tune and way better than that Mark McCabe version we've had to endure in this country for almost twenty years now.

Lullaby - its one of those songs that reminds me of certain people and it's a good one to sing along to.

    Match 51
Safety Dance... it's good fun, Nick Cave is too serious.

    Match 52
Crazytown... the John Frusciante chili pepper "pretty little ditty" riff they sampled is class and makes the song

    Match 53
    Abstain

    Match 54
Hmm... Wherever You Will Go, the 90s song that wasn't. I'll go for Shawn Mullins as it's pretty cool, if not a bit cheesey, but gets my vote

Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance
I worship Nick Cave, but the thought of voting for as a ohw hurts me so I can't!

    Crazytown - Butterfly
I mean, it's terrible, but isn't that kind of what this tournament is about?

Berlin - Take My Breath Away
    Quality tune!

I'm gonna pass on the last one

#51 - Oh that is just an evil matchup Kolido. Putting one of my nominations (Safety Dance) against my favourite songwriter of all time. :(

Even if Nick Cave only had one commercial hit I cannot bear to denigrate him as a "one hit wonder" so despite the brilliance of Where The Wild Roses Grow I'll have to go for Safety Dance.

    Edit:

#52 Don't know Robin Beck, so pass.

#53 Hate them both, I say let both songs from #51 through instead!

#54 Vote Lullaby, not a big fan of either but it's less overplayed than the other one.

Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance Just be default. Can't agree with Kylie Minougue being in a one hot wonder. If that's the case, any duo is eligible.

Robin Beck - First Time It's magical and has an innocence. Plus those hot Swedish chicks Sunblock covered it and the video was very amazing.

Berlin - Take My Breath Away Emotional AF, simple as that.

The Calling - Wherever You will Go A beautiful tune.
