Do I need architect?

Per other thread adding small 20sqm extension to back of house - extending the kitchen. So knocking back wall and pushing it back 3-4m with new roof and 3velux windows. I know exactly what I want other than some uncertainty over roof and min pitch that I need guidance on. I don’t need planning permission.

A lot of people telling me I don’t need an architect just someone to draw up plans and an engineer to certify everything as we go along.

Overall cost will be about €50k or so.

    Any advice?

We did an extension a couple of years ago a bit bigger than yours without an architect. The engineer did the drawings before we went out to the builders for quotes and then made the necessary site visits to certify at the end.

OK thank you, where did you source the engineer or would you be able to recommend someone?

We used the engineer we'd hired to do the structural survey when we'd bought the house about a year before. He was very thorough then so we figured we'd go back to him. The firm is in Enfield, in Meath - I can pm you the details if that part of the country is any use to you.
