    Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone could help me with this. Im having major sensitivity on one of my upper teeth (no 5) and was told I need a root canal and crown. I know this will be expensive but Iv been quoted €1450 by a well known chain. Is this a little high or should I shop around? The quote was 560 root canal, 140 composite filling and 750 crown. Based in Dublin so I'd welcome any recommendations.

    Thanks a mil.

In my own local dentist, the RC is performed by the in house Endodontist so it would be €550 for a pre-molar with a crown 7-800.

So i would say the price is ok, is the RC being performed by a general dentist or an Endo?

Thanks for coming back to me. The dentist there isnt a specialist, general dentist.

fwiw, i've had two RCS done by the same specialist, and zero issues.

If i needed another i would be getting a specialist.

Agree with H. One done with specialist, no hassle. One done by dentist, loads of hassle, took ages to sort and ended up going to a specialist.

I'm a bit out of date but price sounds about right.

Why is the composite filling being quoted seperatly and at 140 euro...to put a core filling into a tooth that you are preparing for a crown is but moments work, and part of the crown preparation if you ask me.

Otherwise the prices are fine, just so long as the person doing it is excellent at both root canals and crowns.

May be using parapost fibre post on a root canaled tooth, also, if you use luxacore white composite build up under ceramic crowns, it’s expensive stuff but I doubt a chain would use that. My guess is fees are being applied there as per itemisation whereas private dentists would include it. Like you I just take it as part of the cover which has to be put on after the RCT.
