Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Almera pollen filter (N16, 2006)

Would anyone know where on earth the pollen filter is on an 06 Almera? The interior was revamped for the 2006 model and they moved things. The heater resistor is on the driver's side (above the clutch pedal) for example.

The US version have everything behind the glove box but I think the UK/Ireland ones are different.

Thanks - it's my brother's car and he may have not seen it. Worth another look then!

Hopefully it's simpler than some of them (eg: my Tiida and the Altima)

OP, in the bottom corners of the glovebox, there are two plastic pins. These are the glovebox hinge pins. Pop them out and the glovebox comes away. You are looking at the fan housing. The pollen filter is behind a plastic panel towards the top, held in place with plastic clips. Pop that off and the filter is just there.

Ah, that's the pre-2006 facelift Almera - that one was more obvious alright.

The glovebox on this one is screwed into place as a unit and the fan housing is more at the bottom middle (ie: level with the gearshift but behind the console like)...

Still, the Nissan dealership just said it's behind the glovebox too so off it comes and we'll take a look :)

I remember on the K11 Micra you had to saw off part of the glovebox to access the filter i did this and it was never changed infact id say most never where.

Im guessing the Almera is another enigma!

No-one ever changed a pollen filter. They are only really relevant for asthmatics and people with hay fever.

Weeeell, the one I took out of my Nissan Tiida was pretty manky. My 97 Starlet didn't have a pollen filter so dirt/smells/fluff would tend to ingress into the cabin more.

According to themselves in the Nissan dealership in Raheny, a blocked pollen filter can reduce airflow over the fan resistor unit (which is placed in the airstream to cool it) which may lead to premature failure. Not sure I buy this but that's what they said.

(Also - you'd think in an era of switch mode power supplies, the car makers would use something other than "hefty resistor" to make a fan spin slower. On the other hand, they'd probably mess up the PWM frequency such that it would make a high pitch whine and you'd never be able to have a dog in the same car!).

The "facelifted" version was introduced in 2003 with new headlamp and dashboard design as well as a slight increase in bhp to 98. The glove box remained unaltered. As a previous poster mentioned remove the plastic hinge pins in each corner and it comes out.
