Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's the trickiest area for strangers to be thrown together though... like, none of our attackers have ever been on the pitch at the same time together I don't think. Would want to have them play a few times to get a bit of an understanding in those tight spaces where you need to know the run a players gonna make, before he makes it.

Disappointing to concede there... not overly bothered about how the defense performs today though, given that its the one area of the pitch we actually have a decent nailed down setup. Realistically no-one is breaking up Randolph/Duffy/Egan/Stevens/Doherty. Much more focused on midfield and attack for today.

And midfield have been good. Cullen and Browne done well to push them wide only for Brady amd oconoor to be caught. Byrne Cullen and Browne all doing well ob the ball.

We are good at keeping the ball just pîss weak at creating chances when we have it. Our final ball is terrible, as is our finishing, should have at least worked the keeper there ffs.

Could be 90-10 and it won't mather if you have nothing up front and you get caught on the breaK

[UOTE=Strumms;111770664]New Zealand fair play had 6/7 players committed as far as our box for that goal, been by far the second best team but we’ve been less than impressive in terms of efficiency with the ball at our feet.[/QUOTE]
We are poor at the basics. First touch bad, control of ball is bad and passes over hit. Same with the U.21’s today.
Giles and Dunphy used to point this out all the time.
Not enough street football as kids.

We havent been good at keeping the ball in any of our qualifying games though.

In fairness they've worked a few great chances so far. Fairly positive really.

Good runs. Getting on the ball and offering and outlet for midfield to play the ball into.

Good midfield performance. Controlling the game. Oconnors experience probably caught us out for the goal. Browne and cullen doing well in the engine room with Brady and Byrne creating space for the full backs to get into. Fairly happy so far. Its encouraging to see us looking to get the ball into feet. Maguire has bee. Poor enough though.

We deserve to be at least level. A pity we've dropped off from the very bright 15-20 minutes or so at the start of the half. Tracking back from the likes of Brady and Maguire hasn't been up to scratch. Parrott's not been involved as much as I had hoped. Hopefully things improve in the second half.

    Good goal.
Wouldn’t want to be going in at half time a goal down with 70% possession.

Would you ever give over. Whinge whinge whinge moan moan moan.

It was a good ball and you make the reference to his girlfriend in France again. We get it.

Brady’s delivery in general has been as good as it’s been for a long time. Encouraging.

Clearly not to some losers though.

Its good to get back level but the midfield performance is the big plus here. Bradys set pieces and crossing looks good. His tracking back is something that he needs to look at. That can be worked on but we do need a player able to deliver a ball. Mcgoldrick would thrive on the service. I dont think McClean is capable of playing ball like that.

Byrne stand out player just for always wanting to get on the ball. No one else really done much. Good corner from Brady for the goal but he hasn't been great, looks slower with his feet and fell asleep for the goal. Parrott not much involved, been bit disappointing. Seanie will be disappointed but he's put himself in good positions, especially that long ball from Long.

Brady showing why he has a career; that left foot crossing is quality.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,820 ✭✭✭smelly sock

Cullen Byrne and Browne offering food for thought as an alternative midfield trio for sure.

Yeh. The obvious change for Monday would be him for McClean but Hendrick could also be under pressure. Brady can play centrally too.

I honestly think some people on here haven't watched the first half but came in to have the usual moan.

Actually been some nice football by us for once. I suppose its because we have lads around midfield who want the ball

More like harsh on Gibraltar. There are players in that New Zealand 11 that wouldn't get game time at Shamrock Rovers or Dundalk.

That Elijah Just lad that keeps making mazy runs through the centre of our defence plays in the Danish 3rd tier.
