What about forcing lapped cars to detour through the pits at a delta that means they filter out at the back, as a way of 'clearing the pack' so to speak? I'm not sure what you mean by a problem that doesn't exist, you only need to count the amount of racing laps lost while waiting for lapped cars to unlap themselves. Granted it wouldn't resolve the below issue... They'd potentially be saving a chunk of fuel with this happening

Not possible - it's the same as making them drop at the back. Like it or not, the current rule is the only way the Safety Car system can work fairly on road tracks; Even in the past, when lapped cars stayed where they were on track, it caused the first non-lapped car to gain a full lap on their following competitor. In our case, Russel would be stuck behind Hamilton and Stroll would gain a lap on him. Other than, obviously, potentially be in the way of whomever was 2nd and would like to try and attack Hamilton for the lead at the restart.

As for the "non-existent problem", that's exactly what it is. Bellyaching about a couple of extra laps behind the safety car and coming up with solutions that would immensely damage competitors down the field through no fault of their own.

I'll reiterate - if we want to make F1 a "show", then any solution goes, but it becomes the WWE.

Not sure where you're getting that assertion, we were discussing differing ideas on how to save potential wasted racing laps under a safety car...not have cars drive through rings of fire

General thing, not specifically related to you; Lots of discussions among "fans" over the internet is towards making it more of a "show" - which we saw were it leads, when fans asked for "faster cars for the show!".

Ah, fully agreed. I shudder to think at that aspect of it. Also...remember COTA 2017? The 'walkouts'? Ugh...
