Sausage casings

I figured this could be a good place to ask - can anyone recommend any supplier of sausage casings?

We bought the aldi meat grinder / stuffer some time back, and I'd love to try to make some Italian sausages this winter.

I've used this crowd a few times with no snags.

I got a box of synthetic skins from my local butcher a few years back. Keep them dry and away from sun light and thier still good to go. Can't remember the price but cheap enough considering the yield.

In my experience, you won't grind too much meat in the Lidl / Aldi mincers before something breaks. I've gone through a number of them. I suppose they're fine for the price though.

The Lidl sausage stuffer I bought years ago still does the job every time.

A good investment would be a vacuum sealer from either Lidl or Aldi. Great for keeping homemade meat products fresh and presentable.

I'd second the weschenfelder recommendation. I've used them in the past. I bought my Tritacarne No.12 grinder from them. Good bit of kit.

You could try scobies direct if you'd prefer a company based in Ireland.

Or if your local butcher makes their own sausages (fairly rare these days), they will probably be happy to give you some casings for free.

I used to use a basic nozzle kit that would attach to the electric mincer. It worked well but was hard to control with only two hands.

So I bought this a while back, much more managible:

...hunt around and you'll get a good deal on it.

If buying a electric mincer avoid as many plastic parts as possible.
