You don't need a suit and tie just dress smart and tidy it's just a general chat and going through your form b.

Is anyone else just in total awe at how bad the AGS have been with keeping everyone informed? What job would have people waiting 17 months with little or no communication.

Does anyone have any update as to when medicals will begin again? And do you need to have your vetting completed before your medical can commence?

aw its ridiculous, imagine you actually ticked on the form b for them to be allowed to contact your workplace , and then you went into work and informed them of your desire to leave and that they may be getting a phone call from AGS , your work is then aware you are leaving, and will treat you differently,
iv been getting pay rises and benefits and being sent on courses to further my designing , and inside im thinking 'sure i could be gone next year' and feel all guilty :rolleyes: but sure cant say anything and keep the head down, because we have absolutely no idea of anything, its a joke :pac::pac:

It’s absolutely insane. No wonder they have had such problems with recruitment. If I’m a graduate leaving college with a degree and all of my friends are going into jobs and I’m being forced to just wait for nearly one year and a half I can see why so many people bail. I’m absolutely committed to waiting it out but it’s beyond ridiculous!

its going to be another year for us im afraid imo, i presume your waiting for medical and fitness too? i cant see medicals or pcts happening anytime soon, the silence from AGS is so frustrating:confused: im committed to the wait aswel but so many leave the campaign, as they dont want their lives on hold, and i completely understand why, you cant plan the future at all because all your doing is waiting on the bloody emails to come through :pac:

No I’ve completed everything other than my medical so I’m hoping for sooner. Regardless if you are forced to wait another year that’s actually incredibly insane. Think about that! - 28 months waiting for a job!

I remember years ago when it was always said you could be waiting up to 2 years to be called up. So its always been a thing. Don't wait for it, start your planB so you don't look back and say "god I've wasted 2years". You might be happy in your other job by the time it comes up. I wouldn't feel guilty either for progressing in a role companies will drop you as soon you would drop them so be selfish you only have 1 life.

Fair play for the heads up Westy- thank God I've all that over me. My vetting is undergoing “Final checks” so I’m hopefully just waiting on that E-mail now.

hi Westy, where did you hear that the office doing the physical/medicals are returning the 31st?
i am one of the ones waiting on a physical/medical. this waiting not knowing anything is very annoying.
i'd say it be next year the earliest before we get any progress with the way things are going.

Has anyone heard anymore updates from their contacts? They must have some sort of an idea what they are going to do with fitness / medical stuff now.

They’ve been back there with the last three or four weeks, they finished at their stations, did three weeks e-learning from home and then went back to Templemore.

Are they going back to the same stations? Or are they being sent further away?

They have no idea - they haven’t been told anything regarding permanent stations yet.

Does anyone have any information about when the next intake will be? Thanks

It won't be this side of Christmas and probably not soon after it. Training isn't really a top priority for AGS at the moment.

That’s really too bad I was hoping it would be November or December time.

Respectfully no one has information on that but training IS a huge priority for AGS at the moment but not for anyone who is not a student guard or a serving member.

They are focusing on active Guards who have moved through departments for specialist training, this Information does come from a multiple reliable sources who are serving member waiting for their training to commence and are just as frustrated as we are.

As for us waiting for the call up I’ve still been told that September will a big month, as much as I hope that’s true it’s still unfounded.

What still remains fact is that there will always be retirements from the force year on year and those numbers need to be replenished!

It’s hard but we just have to hang in there

I’m hoping there will be some positive news before Christmas. I have moved home for this position so am trying to make some plan for the near future while I am waiting for the intake. Like everyone else I’m checking my email daily 🀞🀞

I know a guy who is part of that group. They have been doing fitness tests in the college this week.

Anyone know what the fitness tests in Templemore consist of when you're training as a Garda Trainee? I've my fitness done since January and wouldn't mind brushing up on it again as i'm just waiting on the call now.

I assumed it would be the same fitness test that we done initially? With a swimming element added?
