we are naturally destructive, and without conscious effort go against the agencies of darkness, in all their shiny guises, we propel ourselves into oblivion, with chemicals, sports, religion, money, whatever, its the false economy of the so called self and its inherent emptyness. doesn't matter how we decorate it, we are all destroying our true selves, even as slowly as the socially acceptable slow motion suicide.
we are also being programmed to destroy ourselves from outside the subscription to self and the ideation of suicide proven to create a sense of calm becomes a preoccupation,
ive alot of personal experience in this area and i hope i didnt offend or upset anyone, i am not flippant on this subject. at all.

Stress, money/ job/ housing worries, bullying at work or through social media, societal expectations, online gambling and other addictions, demise of the community, social isolation and in Ireland too the weather, grey skies, and rain.People have gotten too serious as well though with that list easy to see why.
