    Boxing Day got its name when Queen Victoria was on the throne in the 1800s and has nothing to do with the sport of boxing.

    The name comes from a time when the rich used to box up gifts to give to the poor.

    Boxing Day was traditionally a day off for servants, and the day when they received a special Christmas box from their masters.

    The servants would also go home on Boxing Day to give Christmas boxes to their families.

    Stupid sports, ruin bloody everything. Why can't you ask a question about something I know, like "EastEnders Christmas Cliffhanger" or something... :rolleyes:

    'Boxing' Day... haha, didn't even think that could be associated with the sport. It's a good thing- if I'd thought of another option I'd be in a straitjacket right now typing with my toes.

    I want to know who the other ex-bookie is now too. :pac:

    Please let tomorrow's question be 'what date does Christmas Day fall on' and give us some emotional stability.
