Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dear fellow people, this is to inform you about a incident happened with me today.

I received a call from 016167700(INIS Number) on my phone number this morning. There was a lady on the other side of phone. She informed me that she is calling from INIS Immigration and they received a notice on my name for a fraud happened in India. This notice is a subject of immediate deportation and i have 72 hours of time in which 24 hours is gone as they received this notice yesterday. I asked the lady for any reference number(like complain number for further communication) which i can use, she told me i can visit INIS Dublin.

I immediately contacted Indian Embassy regarding this. Mr Sameer Rawat from Indian Embassy guided me that this can be hoax call and advised to inform INIS about this as well.I also informed INIS about the call over the call and via email. I also visited the Immigration Garda Office in Henry Street, Limerick and informed them as well. I also informed Department of Justice over the email as advised by INIS Customer Support lady.

As i am confident that there is nothing wrong i did ever, i am very nervous as this is a matter of my future. I am shaking your guidance.
Kindly advise if there is anything i have to do from my side.

How can anyone on an anonymous forum who has no idea who you are or has access to your records help you?
Certainly doesn't sound like a scam as they weren't trying to get anything off you and told you to contact INIS
Not clear if you have even called INIS back about it.

Assuming it wasn't spoofed - that's a legit INIS phone number:

    Hi fritzelly,

I contacted Garda, INIS, and Justice.Ie over the email. I also visited Limerick Garda Station(Immigration) and informed them about this incident. I am agree with your question that people here does not have my record. I posted here to share my incident. My hope is to get the guidance what i should do next. May be there are few people here with the same experience and they can guide me.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

Call INIS like you were told, an email could be sitting there for days before it gets answered - else the gards are gonna be calling to your door

Yes this is true. But i did not received any written communication yet.

I received following email today from GNIB Garda

    "
    Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email. Please be assured that the call did not come from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB), the specialist bureau of An Garda Síochána with responsibility for carrying out deportations. If you receive further calls from the number mentioned, please inform this office.

Also, it would be appreciated if you could provide the time at which you received the call.

    Yours sincerely,

    Sent on behalf of

Detective Chief Superintendent, Garda National Immigration Bureau

Ireland doesn't do summary deportations as far as I know, so the guards are not just going to show up at your door to drag you onto a plane without any warning. Even if you are residing in Ireland without legal status, there's a whole long process the state will go through, starting with sending you a letter advising you of your status and the state's intention to submit a deportation order against you; you'd have a couple weeks to respond to that and either offer to leave voluntarily or apply to remain on humanitarian grounds. Only if you failed to respond or your application to remain was rejected would a deportation order be issued, and even then you would generally be ordered to go to your local immigration office to surrender yourself on a certain date. Only if you failed to surrender yourself would a warrant be issued for your arrest and you could then be arrested and detained by the guards pending removal. And if you are residing legally in the state, the process to remove you on the grounds that your permission is no longer valid for some reason would be even more complex and take even longer, as they'd have to prove that your permission is invalid first before even starting the whole deportation order process. There are no circumstances I'm aware of where you could be summarily deported with 72 hours notice without any prior communication or notification from the Minister for Justice and Equality.

This sounds like it could be a setup for some sort of scam. I'd be curious to see if you get a follow-up call in the next couple days claiming that you will be immediately deported unless you pay some sort of fine or provide personal details to the person calling.

    Scam.

INIS only give notification of consideration to deport via letter.

Even then you would have 15 days to respond.

they received a notice on my name for a fraud happened in India.
If this isn't true, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Have you given you details to any third parties, e.g. there have been some people abusing the appointment registration system with INIS and charging fees.

Also, issues like an accusation of fraud would be brought up in an interview or similar.

Are you Indian national? This sounds like a spoofed number scam call.

    Edit: http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/updates-announcements#Fruad%20telephone%20notice

INIS have a warning up about this scam call. Nothing to worry about go back to your life :)
