Blustery bright day in Dublin, heading to the park with the dog for a walk to blow off the cobwebs.

Another humdinger of a hail shower here in this part of Mayo now. Rough showers when they blitz through.

A lot of thunder rumbling around Athlone

Thunder and lightning in Kerry now.

Getting going here in the northwest. Driving through Tullaghan (the only coastal village along Leitrim's 3 mile coastline) and the car was rocking in the wind. Flashes of lightning also.

Power gone in mid Kerry, very windy already

East Clare hailstones battering at the windows, strong westerly winds, but then patches of stillness.... Weird.

Hope it does - they might have to replace it instead keep trying (and failing) to fix it!

Got woken a couple of times early (still dark, and I don't wake easy!) by rain absolutely hammering on the house and front windows - I'm facing north, so it must have veered a bit to the west already.

The squalls are tearing through, doesnt seem to be that windy yet and the sea state doesn't seem to have got up much yet.

Thinking about a walk down to the beach in a while, but will need to time the gap between the downpours properly

    NW Donegal

Looking at marinetraffic.com, there are two lonely fishing boats off the west coast - the smaller one about 50km west of Belmullet, a bigger one over 100km out of Donegal Bay - I seriously don't envy them!!! I wonder did they get caught out (what excuse??), both look like they're heading for shore now.

There also looks like there's a bit of a scramble going on for the last places in Castletownbere!

Other than that, the west coast of Ireland is looking very denuded of the usual fishing fleet.

Thinking about anyone out there, stay safe!

Dingle peninsula is squalling. First time (living here 5 years) we've had a combination of hail and thunder. Thunder's pretty rare, though hail isn't.

Wind blowing strong, I need a new battery for my anemometer, feels like 40-60 kmh so far, the trees aren't as bent over as when it hits 80+

Been working in the kitchen at lighting the stove and baking etc and the smoke blowback is smotheracious.

No mountains.... and have not yet braved the outdoors to briefly view the ocean behind my home... I will!

I did and never such a sight as that. Fury in water form.

Marine forecast now mentions Force 11

I didn't actually expect the red to be honest, seeing as I can see Kerry out the window from here (West Clare), it's probably a good idea to take a look around at what could be sent flying.

    Stay safe everyone!

    Dublin 58kts 10pm-12am

Is there likely to be another upgrade for the remainder of the country?

It’s the convective gusts within these cells that are likely to give some very powerful winds.
